Q-Free America is a leading provider of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solutions that help agencies improve mobility, safety, and efficiency on our roadways. We are seeking an experienced full-stack Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology team and help design, develop, and deliver software solutions supporting Q-Free's intelligent transportation platforms.
In this role, you will work across the software development lifecycle, solving complex technical challenges, improving system performance and scalability, and contributing to software architecture and engineering best practices. You will work with a talented team of engineers while also providing technical guidance and helping strengthen development practices across the organization.

What You'll Do- Plan, design, develop, test, and implement software applications from conception through completion.
- Independently manage complex software development activities.
- Make well-reasoned decisions regarding software design, implementation, technical tradeoffs, and long-term maintainability.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
- Design and improve solutions for system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing applications and code.
- Anticipate technical challenges and recommend solutions before they affect delivery.
- Break complex development efforts into manageable tasks and provide accurate estimates.
- Conduct timely and thorough code reviews.
- Lead by example in software development processes, engineering standards, and testing strategies.
- Collaborate with Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and other cross-functional teams.
- Support system configuration and application deployments, including occasional after-hours assistance.
- Create and maintain technical, installation, operational, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Mentor and support fellow engineers while promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Deliver high-quality work within established timelines and adapt effectively to changing priorities and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Technical skills: Java, TypeScript and React.js.
- Advanced knowledge of software development concepts, practices, and processes.
- Experience with software architecture and design.
- Experience with software requirements, debugging, testing, and documentation.
- Experience with software build and deployment processes.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver results.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and provide technical leadership within an engineering team.
- Work on technology that improves transportation safety and mobility.
