About the opportunity
At RACV, we’re embracing AI to transform how we work, serve our members and create better experiences. We’re looking for a Mid-Level AI Engineer to join our growing Transformation and AI team.
In this hands-on role, you’ll design, build and operate production-ready AI solutions across a broad range of RACV initiatives. You’ll work across the full delivery lifecycle, from understanding business problems and exploring ideas through to solution design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
With a focus on large language models, agentic AI and cloud-based engineering, this is an opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while delivering solutions that make a meaningful difference for our members and teams.
Key responsibilities
Design, build, deploy and maintain scalable AI-enabled applications, including LLM, retrieval-augmented generation and agentic AI solutions.
Own the delivery of clearly scoped AI initiatives, working with stakeholders to define the problem, agree success measures and deliver useful outcomes.
Develop production-quality solutions using Python and TypeScript or JavaScript, including APIs, microservices and integrations with models, data platforms and existing systems.
Create and improve prompting, retrieval and evaluation approaches to support accurate, grounded, safe and reliable AI outputs.
Contribute to code reviews, architectural discussions, CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments while applying responsible AI, security and data-protection practices.
Monitor and support solutions in production, taking ownership in a “you build it, you run it” environment.
What you’ll need to be successful
3+ years’ Software or Data Engineering experience, including hands-on experience in delivering AI or LLM-enabled solutions.
In depth experience in Python and TypeScript or JavaScript.
Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Codex.
Experience delivering cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure and CI/CD pipelines.
An understanding of LLM development concepts such as RAG, agentic workflows, prompt and context engineering, tool use, structured evaluation and AI security.
Hands-on experience in Solutions Design and Architecture.
Exposure to frameworks and protocols such as LangGraph, LlamaIndex, PydanticAI, MCP, A2A, RAGAS or promptfoo would be highly regarded.
A curious and critical-thinking mindset, excellent communication skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment.
