ACCOUNTANT

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting and administrative duties, including: 

• Maintaining accurate financial records by recording daily receipts, payments, and journal entries in the accounting software.
• Performing regular bank, mobile money, and petty cash reconciliations.
• Managing accounts payable and receivable functions, including verifying invoices and following up on outstanding balances.
• Assisting in the preparation and timely filing of statutory returns with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and NSSF.
• Ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, including generating EFRIS-compliant invoices.
• Supporting the finance team during internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Handling general administrative and clerical support tasks within the finance department. 

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university is required.
• Professional Certification: Partial completion of a professional qualification like CPA (Uganda) or ACCA (at least Level 1 or 2) is an added advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 3-5years of relevant work experience in an active accounting or bookkeeping role is mandatory.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or Sage is required.
  • Familiarity with the URA portal and EFRIS system is a must.
