Senior DevOps Engineer

For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our code department, playing a key role within our backend technical team!

As a DevOps Engineer, you will contribute to designing and maintaining our infrastructure, implementing automation frameworks, establishing robust CI/CD pipelines, and optimizing performance and security measures. Your work will support our game development workflows, helping to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

You will play an important role within a growing team, collaborating closely with other engineers to evolve and scale our infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to develop your expertise in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

This role will be based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. Key Outcomes:

• Own and continuously improve the reliability, availability and scalability of our production cloud infrastructure.
• Drive the consolidation, improvement and expansion of our cloud platform and infrastructure capabilities.
• Increase visibility and operational control across the cloud estate through effective monitoring, logging, alerting and health metrics.
• Improve automation, security and engineering workflows to support reliable and efficient LiveOps.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the deployment, management and monitoring of cloud infrastructure in a LiveOps environment, including participation in an on-call rota.
• Scope, design and implement scalable, secure and resilient cloud architectures using Infrastructure as Code, with Pulumi as a core technology.
• Lead the development and maintenance of cloud automation, testing, CI/CD and containerised infrastructure, working closely with code and build teams to streamline delivery.
• Lead incident management and root cause analysis, while identifying and implementing improvements to prevent recurring production issues.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE or a similar production-focused role.
• Strong experience with Git, alongside CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi desirable), including designing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong experience with monitoring, logging, incident response and production troubleshooting.
• Experience containerising applications and operating containerised infrastructure such as Docker, ECS, Docker Swarm or Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, reliability, scalability and operational best practices.

Desirable

• Experience with Microsoft PlayFab.

• Experience working in a games or other LiveOps environment.

• Experience with Perforce.

• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership within a DevOps or Platform team.
