Key responsibilities
  • Attend breakdowns, carry out fault-finding and follow through on opportunities identified on site
  • Start up and commission equipment on site, ensuring all systems operate to specification
  • Carry out burner modifications and retrofits in the workshop, followed by panel-to-burner testing
  • Design control panel drawings and layouts, and liaise with panel builders
  • Compile BOMs and review cabling and installation material specifications
  • Conduct site surveys for new installations
  • Provide remote technical support to clients and run training on installed equipment
  • Complete site reports, COCs, commissioning packs and handover documentation
  • Perform software downloads, backups and updates on completion of site work
  • Do remote monitoring and analysis of customer sites, including monthly reporting
  • Support and train junior technicians
  • Contribute to Field Services sales targets, client presentations and SLA promotion
  • Travel locally and internationally
Minimum requirements
  • B.Tech, B.Eng or N.Dip in Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in a related position, preferably in a similar field
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, SANS 347 and SANS 329 / SANS 13577
  • Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and control systems
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and MS Teams
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel nationally and internationally
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
Advantageous
  • Registered Gas Practitioner / Gas License holder, or actively working towards registration
  • Practical experience with steam and hot water boilers (fire-tube, water-tube, steam generators)
  • Working knowledge of pressure vessels and steam and condensate systems, including piping and auxiliaries
  • Prior field service or commissioning experience in the combustion or industrial services industry
  • Exposure to industrial combustion equipment, burners or thermal systems
  • Experience compiling safety files and handover documentation
