Redwood Materials is a circular economy and battery recycling company focused on creating a closed-loop supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy storage. Founded by former Tesla CTO JB Straubel, the firm recovers critical metals like lithium, nickel, cobalt, and copper from used electronics and manufacturing scrap to produce high-performance battery components domestically. By recycling and remanufacturing these materials, it aims to lower the environmental impact and cost of batteries while strengthening North American supply chains.

About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring continuity of material supply and production readiness for our Energy Operations in Sparks, NV. This role sits at the intersection of inbound logistics, NPI change management, supplier quality, and material planning - and is the operational continuity point that keeps builds on schedule and the floor free from supply-driven stoppages. The position partners closely with engineering, quality, logistics, and the Global Supply Management team to execute the production plan, maintain accurate inventory, and resolve issues before they reach the line. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple urgent workstreams simultaneously, and a bias toward proactive communication over reactive escalation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Own inbound supply continuity by tracking material against production need dates, resolving receiving errors (including part number revision mismatches and WMS setup gaps), working with the Quality team to disposition NCRs, and managing QA holds in WMS in coordination with the SQE team.
  • Support and track material movements including PO pacing, labeling and packing list verification, shipment tracker updates, and advance notification to logistics and vendor partners prior to departure
  • Support the monthly MRP cycle by gathering demand inputs, validating MRP outputs in Oracle, communicating binding commit quantities to vendors within the firm planning window, and flagging supply risk with quantified impact to the build plan
  • Own NPI change management execution - tracking BOM revisions between ERP and PLM, coordinating with engineering and procurement on discrepancies, and scheduling NPI trials on the production line
  • Compile and publish the daily production plan and pass down, ensuring the end-of-shift picture accurately reflects inventory status, open holds, and material risk
  • Coordinate on hand inventory validation through cycle counts, escalating discrepancies and confirming receipts generated. Approve invoices based on goods receipts and partner with accounting to troubleshoot discrepancies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience considered
  • 0-5 years of experience in supply chain, production planning, receiving, or manufacturing operations; experience in energy storage, power electronics, or electronics manufacturing preferred
  • Direct WMS experience required; working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to interpret supply chain and operational data to assess build risk, identify material shortfalls, and support planning decisions across a multi-component bill of materials
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to build, own, and maintain reporting tools in a production environment
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities - inbound tracking, active NCRs, outbound execution, and NPI changes - in a fast-paced, deadline-driven operations environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across engineering, quality, logistics, and supplier-facing stakeholders with clarity and appropriate urgency

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
