Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

We're searching for a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join Remitly’s Finance team, reporting to our AP Lead under the Accounting Operations function. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual contributor with a bias for action who is excited by the opportunity to make a big impact in a fast-paced and dynamically growing company.

You will:

• Perform payments processing for Global vendors, Disbursements, Customer Refunds, Taxes, and Reimbursements.
• Ensure payables are paid in a timely and accurate manner across multiple subsidiaries in multiple currencies while adhering to departmental procedures.
• Prepare and submit weekly summary of Payment Registers to the Treasury department for cash forecasting purposes.
• Assist in responding to inquiries received from both internal and external stakeholders pertaining to payment-related matters.
• Conduct comprehensive cash account reconciliations by meticulously comparing incoming and outgoing cash transactions from various bank portals with the corresponding accounting records.
• Participate in month-end close tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (BSRs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Take responsibility for setting individual goals and managing the scope of work with minimal supervision.
• Work independently with significant freedom while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Identify and implement process improvements, manage small to medium projects, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Make sound, independent decisions, proactively solve problems, and suggest innovative solutions that enhance financial operations and team efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Global AP Team and organizational objectives. You have:

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance
• 5+ years of professional experience in an accounts payable specialist role
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system is a plus
• Experience with various payment methods a plus
• Strong analytical skills
• Great attention to details
• Proficiency in Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
