The Associate General Counsel serves as a key legal and business partner across Renuity, providing strategic counsel on commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, employment matters, litigation, licensing, risk management, and corporate operations. This role works closely with executive and functional leaders to mitigate risk, enable business growth, strengthen legal processes, and support enterprise-wide initiatives while serving as a trusted backup to the General Counsel.

What You'll Do:

Commercial Contracting

  • Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, marketing, technology, supply, and services agreements.

  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and self-service tools to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Manage contract intake, prioritization, and legal review workflows.

Marketing & Consumer Compliance

  • Review advertising, promotional, financing, pricing, and discounting practices for compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Partner with marketing and lead generation teams to oversee consent management, vendor compliance, and audit readiness.

Employment & Labor

  • Advise business leaders on hiring, employee relations, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, worker classification, discipline, and separations.

  • Draft and maintain employment-related agreements, policies, and restrictive covenant documentation.

  • Manage agency charges and employment disputes while coordinating strategy with outside counsel.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Manage consumer disputes, warranty claims, mechanic's lien matters, and other legal escalations.

  • Direct outside counsel on litigation strategy, budgets, discovery, and case management.

  • Administer litigation holds and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure proper document preservation.

Licensing, Regulatory & Corporate Governance

  • Support contractor licensing, registrations, bonding, and multi-state regulatory compliance efforts.

  • Assist with entity formation, corporate governance matters, foreign qualifications, and corporate recordkeeping.

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Support due diligence efforts, disclosure schedules, and transaction documentation.

  • Lead post-acquisition legal integration activities, including contract assignments, policy harmonization, licensing transitions, and implementation of legal processes.

Risk Management & Insurance

  • Partner with Risk Management on insurance coverage, claims administration, indemnification matters, and risk mitigation initiatives.

Legal Operations & Team Leadership

  • Supervise and develop legal support staff, including paralegal and licensing personnel.

  • Build scalable legal processes and deliver compliance training across sales, marketing, HR, operations, and other business functions.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to divisional and functional leaders, providing practical, business-focused legal counsel.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and mitigate risk while enabling business growth and operational excellence.

  • Act as a key backup to the General Counsel and provide legal leadership support as needed.

What You'll Bring:

  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.

  • 10+ years of legal experience, including a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience preferred.

  • Expertise in commercial contracting, employment law, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.

  • Proven ability to partner with executive leaders and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.

  • Experience managing litigation, outside counsel, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing legal teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
