This is not a traditional Scrum Master role. You will own delivery tracking, timelines, forecasting, cross-team dependencies, blockers, and end-to-end release coordination. You'll work closely with engineering, product, QA, support, marketing, and business stakeholders to ensure commitments are realistic, risks are visible early, and releases happen smoothly. We're looking for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, can challenge unrealistic timelines, and communicates delivery risks early and directly.
The core responsibilities for the job include the following:
Agile Delivery and Team Management:
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, retrospectives, and team activities.
- Operate effectively across Scrum and Kanban, adapting the process to what the team actually needs.
- Own and maintain Kanban boards, ensuring work is visible, prioritized, and up-to-date.
- Bring structure and focus to multiple engineering teams without creating unnecessary process overhead.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to keep priorities, estimates, and execution aligned.
Delivery Planning and Forecasting:
- Build delivery timelines using engineering complexity estimates and product priorities.
- Establish and track milestones, dependencies, and expected delivery dates.
- Continuously maintain delivery forecasts as scope, priorities, or engineering estimates change.
- Drive re-estimation and timeline reviews when requirements or priorities shift.
- Identify gaps between business expectations and engineering estimates and drive alignment.
- Provide clear, factual delivery updates to business stakeholders.
- Communicate changes and risks early rather than waiting for deadlines to slip.
Dependencies, Risks, and Blockers:
- Proactively identify cross-team dependencies that could impact delivery.
- Drive resolution of blockers and dependencies across teams.
- Escalate resource constraints, bottlenecks, and delivery risks when required.
- Keep teams and stakeholders aligned on ownership, timelines, and next actions.
- Reduce avoidable stall time by identifying risks before they become delivery issues.
Release Management:
- Own end-to-end release planning for product increments.
- Coordinate release activities across product, engineering, QA, support, marketing, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure the right stakeholders are available and aligned during deployment activities.
- Track release readiness and dependencies through to production.
- Maintain release history and documentation.
- Run release retrospectives and work with Support on post-release incidents and learnings.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in delivery management, release management, agile project management, or a closely related role.
- Experience working in multi-team product engineering environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Scrum and Kanban.
- Proven experience building and maintaining delivery timelines from engineering estimates.
- Strong understanding of estimation, prioritization, forecasting, and dependency management.
- Experience managing end-to-end software releases.
- Ability to identify blockers, risks, and cross-team dependencies and drive them to resolution.
- Strong stakeholder management across engineering, product, QA, support, and business teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable communicating delivery risks, delays, and bad news directly and early.
- Strong hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Experience working across multiple teams and time zones is a plus.
- Startup or high-growth product company experience is strongly preferred.
You'll Be a Strong Fit If:
- You can turn engineering estimates and product priorities into a realistic delivery plan.
- You don't wait for a dependency or blocker to become a deadline miss before acting on it.
- You are comfortable challenging unrealistic commitments with facts.
- You can switch between Scrum and Kanban without becoming process-heavy.
- You understand that delivery management is about outcomes, not ceremonies.
- You can keep multiple teams aligned without needing formal authority over them.
- You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change quickly.
