Job Overview:

The Family Navigator Coordinator will support IRC clients in building stability and eliminating identified barriers to allow clients to gain employment to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. The Coordinator works closely with colleagues across IRC programs and external partners to ensure clients have the knowledge and resources they need to thrive in their community. This role will focus on maintaining and building strong partnerships and referral pathways within the community and coordinating education opportunities through workshops and orientations for clients to learn how to access and utilize essential services.

This position has an end date of September, 30, 2027.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Family Support

  • Identify and maintain resource list for clients, including free or low-cost primary, specialty, dental, prescription, and mental healthcare options.

  • Provide tailored referral support for clients seeking healthcare resources within the community.

  • Coordinate initial health screenings.

  • Adapt and vet culturally appropriate health education materials, communication, and educational workshops, using supervisor approved templates and existing content to build health system literacy and address health-related barriers to employment and self-sufficiency, coordinating with AmeriCorps, Interns, and Volunteers for workshop delivery.

  • Coordinate initial school enrollment appointments, maintaining positive school relationships.

  • Collaborate with and refer to internal and external partners to make referrals and access services for early childhood applications, advocacy for services for children, parent engagement, educational workshops, out of school time opportunities and other community resources that support long-term stability.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to offer education and events to knowledge, activities and awareness for youth and families to thrive.

Partnership Building

  • Maintain, and strengthen partnerships within established program priorities.

  • Attend partner meetings as directed by the casework supervisor, representing IRC within the scope of assigned tasks.

Documentation, Reporting, Contract Compliance and Other Responsibilities

  • Coordinate data entry in compliance with IRC standards and grant requirements.

  • Participate in staff meetings and training.

  • Promote gender equity and wellness in access to services.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position Reports to: Casework Supervisor and receives technical support from the Education and Learning Program Manger

Position Directly Supervises: N/A, may provide day-to-day guidance and orientation to interns and volunteers assisting with clients-related tasks, without formal supervisory authority (e.g., hiring, performance management).

Job Requirements:

Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Relevant professional experience in the field of human services, health Navigator, education, youth programming, or nonprofit program required; 2-3 years of experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with immigrant and refugee populations preferred; lived experience valued.

  • Knowledge of Virginia and/or U.S. public benefits, health or school systems strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.

  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively within established guidelines and supervisor direction.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC’s clients is desired; including Spanish, Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle is required.

Working Environment:

  • Standard office environment.

  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: ($26.78 - $31.00/Hourly). Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements
