Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead/Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong backend development expertise, hands-on coding experience in Node.js or Ruby on Rails, and a solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices. This role combines technical leadership, architecture, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality products.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Technical Leadership:

• Provide technical direction and architectural guidance to the engineering team.
• Drive best practices in software design, coding standards, testing, and system architecture.
• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and architectural decision-making.

Software Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js or Ruby on Rails.
• Build and integrate secure, high-performance RESTful APIs.
• Design and optimise distributed systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in hands-on development for critical features and technical initiatives.

Code Quality and Engineering Excellence:

• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality.
• Promote clean code principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive performance improvements.

Project Delivery:

• Lead the successful execution of multiple engineering projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies throughout the development lifecycle.

Mentorship and Team Development:

• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and career development.
• Encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with business teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js or Ruby on Rails.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture, system design, and scalable application development.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience with Git and modern Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
