Map Operation Engineer
Description
Job Responsibilities
1. Map Production, Cartography & Feature Annotation
Point Cloud Preprocessing & Mapping: Responsible for importing, filtering/denoising, registering, and merging LiDAR point cloud data, as well as tiling and stitching large-scale point clouds to generate high-accuracy base maps meeting production standards.
Feature Vectorization & Annotation: Proficient in using point cloud annotation tools to accurately trace and annotate high-precision semantic features, including lane boundaries, intersection topologies, stop lines, and curbs.
Multi-Format Processing & Delivery: Execute map data export and post-processing conversions, ensuring the integrity and correctness of attribute fields and topological structures.
Routine Maintenance & Local Map Updates: Rapidly maintain and incrementally update Local Maps in response to physical road changes (e.g., road construction, detours, newly opened intersections); support perception and online mapping annotation and ground-truth validation as needed.
2. Process Improvement & Toolchain Optimization
Cartography Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Establish and document standardized mapping procedures across various driving scenarios to form standard SOPs and minimize manual rework.
Toolchain Migration & Testing: Actively participate in the transition, validation, and acceptance testing of next-generation mapping toolchains, providing frontline operational feedback and functional sign-offs.
Lightweight Automation Scripting: Collaborate with R&D teams to develop and maintain lightweight Python/Shell utility scripts, optimizing "glue" steps such as batch format conversions, automated data splitting, and consistency checks to boost pipeline throughput.
Quality Inspection (QA) Tool Development & Application: Develop and utilize map validation and inspection tools, establish pre- and post-release checklists, and achieve quantified monitoring of map quality metrics.
3. Mapping Issue Triage & Troubleshooting
First-Line Issue Triage & Initial Screening: Serve as the first responder for tickets from real-vehicle testing and fleet operations; quickly reproduce and diagnose reported issues such as localization drift, jumps, and lane-fitting discrepancies.
