CIS Technician (m/f/d)

We are looking for a CIS Technician for a permanent full-time position within our Training and Simulation Department in Paderborn.

In Paderborn we work with the British Army with laser-based Weapons Effects Simulators. (DFWES Systems for vehicle and soldiers). We are part of a larger team that supports the British Army around the world.

Your Role:

• Planning and preparation of Communication and Information Systems (CIS) and Exercise Control (ExCon) equipment, including packing, system configuration and testing
• Conducting corrective and preventative maintenance of CIS/ExCon equipment
• Technical troubleshooting and helpdesk support to field teams
• Training and supporting Field Technicians in equipment operation, including telescopic mast work and maintenance
• Providing occasional technical support during military exercises, including system setup and teardown, through-exercise monitoring and troubleshooting
• Instructing users in the operation and use of CIS/ExCon equipment
• Day-to-day coordination and support of CIS Technicians
• Occasional travels to other Saab locations and military exercises

Your profile:

• Previous experience in IT, CIS, communications or technical support environment
• Previous experience working with Communication and Information Systems is beneficial
• Previous experience supporting military training or exercises is beneficial
• Good understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft products
• Good understanding of computer networking and basic network troubleshooting
• Technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team
• C2+ English language skills, both written and spoken, are essential, with the ability to communicate confidently with military and civilian personnel
• German Language Knowledge is helpful
• Full driving license / EU driving license Category B
• Forklift operating license is beneficial
• Willingness to travel
