MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Description

• Assist the Project Manager (Mechanical) in planning and executing mechanical works in accordance with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements
• Review engineering drawings, equipment layouts, technical specifications, and supplier documentation to identify discrepancies and confirm installation requirements
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and civil and electrical teams to resolve technical interfaces and ensure site readiness for installation
• Coordinate equipment receipt, unloading, handling, storage, and preparation for installation
• Participate in and supervise mechanical installation activities, including equipment positioning, levelling, alignment, assembly, and inspection
• Monitor installation progress, verify workmanship and compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and EHS requirements
• Troubleshoot mechanical and installation issues, identify corrective actions, and coordinate their implementation with relevant teams
• Participate in pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning, and start up activities, including functional checks, troubleshooting, and performance verification
• Maintain mechanical installation records, inspection reports, progress updates, punch lists, and as built documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum three years of relevant hands-on experience in mechanical installation, testing, or commissioning of industrial plant and equipment, preferably in steel processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects.
• Practical experience in equipment positioning, levelling, alignment, assembly, and mechanical installation activities
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment layouts, technical specifications, and manufacturer documentation
• Sound knowledge of mechanical systems, installation practices, inspection procedures, and commissioning requirements
• Understanding of quality control and EHS requirements associated with industrial equipment installation and commissioning
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; working knowledge of AutoCAD and project scheduling software is an advantage.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently, undertake hands on technical activities, and coordinate effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary teams
