About Our Family

We're a busy, active family of five based in the St. Louis area, navigating the beautiful chaos of homeschooling three kids while running demanding professional lives. Our days are full and intentional - mornings at home with lessons, afternoons at co-op, and evenings at the pool, baseball fields, and volleyball courts. We love being together as a family, and that's exactly the point: we need support so we can actually be present for those moments instead of spending our weekends catching up on the household.

We have a sweet, small dog who is very much part of the family. We have a cleaning crew that comes every other Friday and a lawn service that keeps things tidy outside, but what's been missing is consistent, reliable support in between - someone to help keep the rhythm of the house going.

We've lived far from extended family for years and have always managed on our own, but we've reached a tipping point. Our household is organized and systems-oriented, and we're looking for someone who can step into that same energy, help us improve on what we've built, and take meaningful tasks off our plates.

We value clear communication, mutual respect, and a collaborative approach. Our hope is that our House Manager feels appreciated, supported, and like an important part of our family's day-to-day life.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and genuinely thrives in an independently managed role. You don't need a daily task list - once expectations are clearly established, you run with them. You're Type A in the best way: you notice what needs to happen, you take initiative, and you follow through without being asked twice.

You're warm and natural around kids, but you understand the importance of professional boundaries and operate with a behind-the-scenes, service-oriented mindset. You're a strong communicator who keeps the family informed without overcomplicating things. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating calm out of the everyday, takes pride in helping others, and finds fulfillment in making a family's life run a little more smoothly. If you're proactive, thoughtful, and genuinely enjoy supporting others, we'd love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Perform daily resets: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Maintain and improve existing household organizational systems
  • Identify and implement household efficiencies as you get to know the home
  • Seasonal kids' clothing swaps and closet inventory
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and assist with purging room by room over time
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest prep
  • Support packing and unpacking around family travel
  • Care for indoor plants
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed

  • Sort mail and packages; filter junk and flag important items for the family
  • Break down boxes

Meal Support

  • Prep 2-3 dinners per week using the family's existing recipe collection (source ingredients, prep components such as marinating, chopping, and slow cooker setup so the family can finish and plate)
  • Batch cook 2-3 breakfast items each week (such as egg bites or breakfast burritos)
  • Prepare lunch items and snacks
  • All meal prep must accommodate a dairy-free household
  • Kitchen cleanup and maintenance as part of meal support

Laundry & Linens

  • Keep laundry moving: wash, dry, fold, and organize
  • Hang dry parents' clothing as preferred
  • Weekly rotation of linens and towels, including remaking beds
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Pet Care

  • Coordinate and handle grooming drop-off and pickup (approximately every 6 weeks)

  • Light backup childcare, particularly coverage for date nights approximately 1-2 times per month

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional targeted deep cleans (refrigerator, oven, baseboards) as needed
  • Keep the mudroom drop zone and kitchen counters organized and functional
  • Ongoing organizational projects: working through rooms to purge, sort, and refresh over time

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for vendors and contractors, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays when the family is out of the house
  • Relay relevant information and updates to the family
  • Assist with beginning- and end-of-season outdoor furniture and garage reset
