A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who can take ownership of financial control, reporting and accounting responsibilities within a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will support the finance function across statutory accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, financial controls and business partnering.
We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who is immediately available and can step into the role with minimal onboarding. The ideal candidate will have strong post-articles experience, excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to operate confidently across financial reporting, controls, reconciliations and stakeholder engagement.

Duties:
- Perform general accounting duties, including journals, creditor payments, month-end processes and VAT reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Assist with financial reporting and provide variance analysis and financial insights.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and queries.
- Contribute to the audit process and resolve audit queries within required deadlines.
- Review journals and ensure invoices are captured accurately and timeously.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate financial controls.
- Assist with budgeting, financial planning and cost optimisation.
- Analyse expenses against budgets and investigate variances.
- Provide financial commentary, trend analysis and reporting insights.
- Support the development and improvement of finance processes and reporting.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide finance support and advice to the broader business.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- BCom Honours in Accounting
- AGA(SA) or eligibility for registration with SAICA.
- Completed SAICA Articles
- 2-3 years post-articles experience is essential.
- Experience within the financial services industry would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting, controls and reporting processes.
