Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and delivering scalable technology solutions.

This role is particularly suited to an experienced Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, Team Lead, or early-career Engineering Manager looking to take the next step into engineering leadership while remaining close to technology and delivery.

You will be responsible for a team of approximately 5-8 engineers and will work closely with Product, Engineering and other cross-functional stakeholders.

You will combine people leadership, technical understanding and delivery management to help the team build reliable, scalable products while creating an environment in which engineers can perform and develop.

What You Will Do: Lead and support a team of engineers, providing coaching, regular feedback and career development.

Work closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders to translate product requirements and business priorities into clear engineering deliverables.

Take ownership of the team’s engineering delivery, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timelines.

Support sprint planning, prioritisation, estimation and allocation of engineering resources across the team.

Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s architecture and technology while supporting engineers in solving technical challenges.

Partner with senior engineers and technical leads on architecture, system design and engineering decisions.

Promote strong engineering practices including code quality, testing, documentation, CI/CD, monitoring and system reliability.

Identify technical risks, dependencies and blockers and work with the team to resolve them.

Support the development of scalable backend services, APIs and distributed systems.

Monitor engineering performance and delivery metrics and identify opportunities to improve team efficiency and quality.

Participate in hiring, onboarding and development of engineers as the team grows.

Build a positive engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. What You Will Need: Approximately 4-7 years of software engineering experience, ideally within backend, platform, fintech, payments or other high-scale technology environments.

Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Technical Lead or Senior Engineer with responsibility for mentoring or coordinating other engineers.

Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and modern backend development.

Experience working with production-grade distributed systems, microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.

Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing and modern software delivery practices.

Experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.

Good understanding of distributed systems, databases, system performance, scalability, monitoring and fault tolerance.

Experience working within Agile engineering teams.

Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical quality with delivery requirements.

A genuine interest in developing engineers and building high-performing teams.

Previous experience within fintech, payments, digital wallets or high-volume consumer technology would be advantageous. What We Are Looking For:
