Sandvik is a Global Leader of OEM Manufactured Underground Mining Equipment. Our Winnipeg ITH (In-the hole) Center of Excellence is the Global OEM Manufacturer of our Underground ITH Drills and Support units.

Currently, we have an opening for a Production Assembler - Heavy Equipment. This role is well suited for entry-level mechanics or hands-on and mechanically inclined learners who want to build real experience in heavy equipment manufacturing. As a Production Assembler, you will support and manufacture OEM equipment units for the global market via mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.

What you will be doing

  • Assembly/sub-assembly work of a machine: modules, electrics, hydraulics, cabin, etc.
  • Visual inspection of the quality and validity of the delivered materials for the work
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble or repair parts and products.
  • Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
  • Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.
  • Work to standard operating procedures, manufacturing information, and instruction from management or engineering.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

Environmental Health and Safety

  • Complies with Sandvik Mining safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses.
  • Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.

What you will bring along

  • Willingness to learn equipment manufacturing, schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, fasteners, and fittings.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience considered an asset.
