We are looking for an experienced Senior Quants Analytics Manager to join our Corporate & Commercial Modelling Team within Treasury Risk & Analytics in London, working 35 hours per week.

This is an opportunity to lead high profile model development initiatives spanning IRB, IFRS9, Stress Testing and Climate Risk, while working with senior stakeholders, regulators and industry leading quantitative professionals to shape the Bank's risk management strategy.

The Corporate Modelling team has a diverse remit covering (but not limited to):

  • Developing corporate rating models used by the Corporate & Commercial business teams for credit decisions, portfolio management and risk assessment.

  • Developing scorecards for Business Banking customers.

  • Building IRB models used to calculate Regulatory and Economic Capital in line with Basel and CRR requirements.

  • Creating IFRS9 provision and expected credit loss models.

  • Developing stress testing and scenario analysis models used for risk management, capital planning and strategic decision making.

  • Developing climate risk models and portfolio analytics.

The models we develop are of significant interest to regulators, while provision models are also subject to review by external auditors. In this role, you will work closely with model owners, users, validators, auditors and regulators throughout the model lifecycle, leading model discussions, explaining methodologies and addressing findings and recommendations.

As a Model Development Quantitative Analyst your main responsibilities will involve:

As a Senior Quants Analytics Manager, you will lead the development of corporate credit risk models that support key business decisions, regulatory compliance and strategic risk management across the Bank.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the delivery of complex model development initiatives across areas including IRB, IFRS9, Stress Testing, Climate Risk and Capital Modelling, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards and regulatory expectations.

  • Developing, enhancing and monitoring models throughout their lifecycle, including performance assessment, challenger model evaluation and ongoing model improvements.

  • Ensuring models are appropriately documented, reproducible, fit for purpose and compliant with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Presenting model developments, key assumptions, model limitations and recommendations to governance forums and approval committees.

  • Managing and developing a team of quantitative managers and analysts, providing technical leadership, coaching and oversight to support high quality delivery.

  • Building great collaborative relationships with model owners, users, validators, implementation teams and senior stakeholders across the Bank, including Director level audiences.

  • Leading discussions with internal and external validators, auditors and regulators, responding to findings and supporting model governance and approval activities.

  • Identifying and resolving complex modelling, data quality and implementation challenges through innovative and pragmatic solutions.

Professional Experience:

  • Extensive experience in corporate or wholesale credit risk model development, validation or model risk management, including IRB rating systems, IFRS9 provisioning, stress testing, climate risk and capital models (Required)

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with experience applying statistical, econometric and machine learning techniques to solve complex modelling, data and business challenges (Required)

  • Advanced programming skills in SAS, Python, SQL or similar analytical tools (Required)

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and resolve complex modelling and data quality issues, applying sound judgement and innovative problem-solving approaches (Required)

  • Great understanding of Basel, CRR, PRA, ECB and IFRS9 regulatory requirements and their application within model development and governance frameworks (Required)

  • Experience interpreting technical documentation and communicating complex quantitative concepts clearly through high quality reports, presentations and stakeholder engagement (Required)

  • Proven experience leading and developing high performing technical teams, including coaching, mentoring and delivery of complex model development programmes (Required)

  • Great interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the Bank and external parties including regulators and auditors (Required)

  • Experience using AI enabled tools and large language models, such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot, to enhance analytical productivity, coding, testing and documentation would be advantageous (Preferred)

Education:

  • Degree level qualification in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, Operational Research, Physics, Engineering, Data Science or a related field. A postgraduate qualification or PhD would be advantageous (Preferred)

Salary Range:

£99,004.00 - £148,506.00 per annum (depending on experience)

This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.

  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year

  • £6,000 car allowance per year
