Job Title
Technical Lead / Engineering Lead (.NET / Integration / DevOps Transformation)
Location
Stellenbosch (Hybrid/Remote)
Who we are
Scriptex is a software engineering firm delivering modular, cloud-native systems that help scale-ups and enterprises accelerate innovation - without compromising on reliability or quality. We build composable frameworks and platforms that offer operational maturity from day one, enabling faster delivery and scalable software solutions.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a strong technical leader to join a critical engineering team operating within a large enterprise environment undergoing a significant modernisation journey.
This role is ideal for someone who understands how to lead effectively in a complex, legacy-heavy enterprise landscape while helping drive a gradual transition toward modern engineering practices, Agile delivery and DevOps maturity, and modern architecture patterns.
You will lead a team of engineers across software development and SRE/production support functions, providing technical direction, delivery leadership, mentorship, and hands-on engineering oversight.
About the Environment
This is a predominantly on-prem enterprise environment with a large portfolio of internal systems currently built on:
- .NET Framework 4.7
- WCF Services
- SQL Server
- Windows Services
- IIS-hosted applications
- TFS source control
- ActiveBatch v10/v12 scheduling and automation
The organisation is actively modernising and transitioning toward:
- .NET 8 / .NET 9
- RESTful APIs
- Azure DevOps (on-prem)
- Git-based workflows
- CI/CD pipelines
- Agile delivery practices
- Improved engineering standards and DevOps maturity
- API management via Gravitee APIM
This role sits directly within that transformation journey.
The Opportunity
You will play a key leadership role in helping evolve the engineering culture, practices, and technical standards of the team while still operating effectively within an enterprise environment that currently follows a largely waterfall-based SDLC.
The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing:
- Legacy system support and enhancement
- Enterprise governance and project structures
- Technical leadership and mentorship
- Engineering modernisation initiatives
- Agile coaching and delivery improvements
- Hands-on architecture and development oversight
This is not a “greenfield startup” environment. It requires someone pragmatic, patient, technically strong, delivery-focused, and capable of driving change incrementally and collaboratively.

- Improve release and deployment processes
- Assist with engineering operational maturity and DevOps practices

- Support migration from WCF services toward modern REST API architecture
- Contribute toward API strategy using Gravitee APIM
