Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the stable, scalable, and automated operation within our AWS Production Cloud environment. As we transition from on-premises infrastructure to a fully self-operated AWS environment, you will playa pivotal role in closing the operational gap and driving our cloud-native strategy. You will be instrumental in maintaining the health, performance, and security of our platform, supporting global manufacturing operations

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• CI/CD Pipeline Ownership: Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, primarily utilizing GitHub Actions, to automate software delivery and deployment processes.
• AWS Infrastructure Operations: Manage and optimize core AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), and Amazon S3.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring solutions using Grafana and AWS CloudWatch to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
• Incident Management: Lead incident handling, troubleshooting, and resolution efforts to ensure high availability and stability of the platform.
• Release Management: Coordinate and execute release management activities across global manufacturing plants, ensuring smooth and efficient deployments.
• Onboarding Support: Provide technical support and guidance for the onboarding of new manufacturing plants onto the platform.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, YAML) to streamline operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning. Stakeholder Engagement & Soft Skills:

Experience and education

• Proven expertise in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters, specifically with Amazon EKS, in a production environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with key AWS services, including EKS, RDS, S3, and IAM (Identity and Access Management).
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience with CI/CD pipeline tooling, particularly GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins.
• Solid understanding and demonstrated experience with PostgreSQL database administration and performance optimisation.
• Experience configuring and utilising Grafana for dashboard creation, alerting, and performance monitoring in a production context.
• Proficiency in Bash and YAML scripting for automation and configuration management.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
• Proven ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment, fostering collaboration and contributing positively to team dynamics.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS resources is advantageous.
• Familiarity with message broker technologies such as Apache Kafka or ActiveMQ is beneficial.
• Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker) and application servers such as Open Liberty is a bonus.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Terraform: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS resources.
• Kafka / ActiveMQ: Familiarity with message brokers such as Apache Kafka or ActiveMQ.
• Docker / Open Liberty: Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and application servers like Open Liberty
