The opportunity

SGX Group operates Singapore's securities and derivatives exchange. The Deployed AI Engineer sits within the AI & Automation Engineering team and is embedded with a business unit. This is a builder's role: rather than waiting for a requirements document, this engineer works alongside the business to find the opportunities, decides what is worth building, and ships a working product quickly on SGX's internal AI build and evaluation platforms.

The role is part engineer, part product owner. You will design and build the user-facing product yourself, using agentic coding tools as your default way of working, and then carry it through governance, adoption and ongoing operation. A material share of the job is deliberately unglamorous: corporate paperwork, regulatory and data-ownership mapping, and large-scale document handling such as redacting and migrating production data into QA for compliance and testing. That work belongs to this role and is not delegated elsewhere.

We are looking for range rather than depth of engineering experience. Deep platform, distributed systems and architecture work sits with the Core AI Engineer role; what matters here is the ability to get something genuinely useful into users' hands quickly, and to make it stick.

This is a Singapore-based role.

What you will do

• Embed with an assigned business unit to discover, qualify and prioritise AI use cases, including the opportunities nobody has thought to ask for
• Act as AI product owner for that unit: own the backlog, define scope with non-technical stakeholders, and decline work that is not worth building
• Design, build and ship working products end to end on SGX's internal AI platforms, including the full user-facing frontend
• Use agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Gemini CLI and similar) as the primary means of delivery, for prototyping, production code, refactoring, testing and documentation
• Integrate with SGX's shared AI services and platform components (LLM APIs, RAG and document pipelines, MCP connectors, evaluation services) rather than rebuilding them
• Produce the corporate documentation the organisation runs on: use case registration, risk and materiality assessments, architecture and data-flow descriptions, security and compliance submissions, and access and vendor requests
• Map the relationships that determine whether a use case can proceed: system and data ownership, upstream and downstream dependencies, and the applicable regulatory and internal policy obligations
• Carry out the operational work that regulated delivery requires, accurately and traceably, such as redacting and migrating multi-gigabyte document sets from production to QA for regulatory, compliance and testing purposes, and building repeatable tooling so the next run costs less
• Assess use case risk materiality and apply the required controls, including human-in-the-loop design for medium and high risk use cases
• Own post-deployment monitoring, ongoing performance, user training, adoption, and measured outcomes (time saved, process improvement, usage)
• Provide structured feedback to the Shared AI Services and Platform team on capability gaps and reusable patterns, so that improvements benefit AI use cases across SGX

What we are looking for

• Able to build and ship a working web application without hand-holding: a backend language, REST APIs, a relational database, and deployment to cloud. Breadth and shipping speed matter more here than years of large-scale production engineering
• Strong frontend ability: can design and build a usable web interface end to end (React and TypeScript or equivalent) without depending on a separate design or frontend team
• Fluent, daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, together with the judgement to review their output, know when not to trust it, and keep an AI-assisted codebase maintainable
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including prompting, RAG and document processing, evaluation, and tool or agent integration
• Demonstrated product instinct: has identified a problem first-hand, decided what to build, and shipped it to real users
• Willingness and ability to work through corporate process in a regulated environment, including risk assessments, governance artefacts, approvals and audit evidence, and to see them through to sign-off
• Genuine tolerance for unglamorous work, with the discipline to handle bulk data operations such as redaction, migration and verification correctly and defensibly
• Proven ability to translate business problems into technical solutions and to work embedded in a business-facing team

What may set you apart:

• Working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, including supervised learning, evaluation metrics, embeddings and model limitations, sufficient to judge when machine learning is and is not the right tool
• Experience in financial services, capital markets or another regulated industry
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Gemini APIs or Gemini Enterprise, Google ADK and Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Experience with data redaction or de-identification, data classification, or provisioning production data into non-production environments at scale
• Prior experience as a product owner, solutions consultant, or in another consulting or business-facing technical role
• Experience with Rust, or the appetite to become productive in a Rust codebase
