Junior Audit Manager - Durban

We are currently seeking an ambitious and technically strong Junior Audit Manager to join a well-established audit and advisory firm in Hillcrest, Durban. This opportunity is ideal for a recently qualified CA(SA) with strong external auditing and taxation experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility, manage complex audit engagements, and contribute to the development of audit staff.

• Planning, executing, reviewing, and finalising external audit engagements
• Attending client and engagement planning meetings, particularly for high-risk engagements
• Performing quality control reviews on audit files and ensuring compliance with relevant auditing standards
• Reviewing and finalising audit working papers and supporting documentation
• Attending final Annual Financial Statement meetings with clients
• Conducting technical research and providing guidance on complex audit and accounting matters
• Ensuring compliance with applicable auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and firm methodologies
• Reviewing and completing various tax returns
• Managing SARS audits, verification requests, objections, and tax-related queries
• Preparing provisional tax calculations for management approval
• Supervising and mentoring Audit Supervisors and other audit staff
• Providing ongoing coaching, training, and technical development to team members
• Reviewing and approving Audit Supervisors' timesheets on a weekly basis
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Providing technical advice and practical solutions on audit and taxation matters
• Managing engagement deadlines and promoting a high-performance culture within the audit department

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) - essential
• 2-3 years' post-articles experience
• Strong external auditing experience within an audit or accounting firm
• Strong taxation experience and sound knowledge of South African tax legislation
• Proven experience reviewing audit files and finalising audit engagements
• Experience managing complex audit engagements
• Previous experience reviewing the work of trainees, seniors, or supervisors will be advantageous
• Excellent technical, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational and project management abilities
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
