Forward Deployed - Software Engineer (m/f/n)

Currently, for one of our Partners, we are looking for an experienced Forward Deployed - Software Engineer (m/f/n) to support a new project delivered for a US-based enterprise environment.

The Opportunity

As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you embed with clients and turn ambiguous tax and business problems into working software, quickly. You scope against fuzzy requirements, prototype in front of stakeholders, and ship the applications, workflows, and interfaces that prove value inside a single engagement rather than over a multi-year roadmap. You use agentic development tooling to close the gap between an idea and a running system.

This is a hands-on role. FDE pods are two engineers, so you are the primary builder: you write most of the code yourself while coaching and growing the engineer alongside you. You are as comfortable in a working session with a tax partner as you are in the codebase. You listen first, translate between technical and business language, and own the outcome from first demo to handoff.

Responsibilities

• Embed with client teams, pull requirements out of incomplete or shifting specs, and turn them into a working technical direction
• Do the majority of the hands-on build: applications, workflows, and interfaces across the full stack, from front end to back end, APIs, and integrations
• Use agentic development frameworks and AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to prototype and ship at engagement speed
• Stand up and integrate MCP servers and LLM-powered features that connect client data and tools to AI workflows
• Demo early and often, take feedback directly from stakeholders, and iterate in tight loops
• Coach the second engineer on your pod, teaching as you build and reviewing their work
• Set the architecture and make practical build-vs-buy and technology calls for each problem
• Promote reusable patterns back to the core platform where they generalize
• Keep quality fit for purpose: solid enough to prove value, with polish where it counts
• Plan for handoff or retirement of engagement-built software from the start

What You Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 4 years of experience
• English C1

What Sets You Apart

• Master's Degree preferred
• Using agentic development frameworks and AI coding assistants fluently to move faster
• Building with LLMs and MCP server architectures to wire client data and tools into AI applications
• Delivering against ambiguous, shifting requirements and reframing the problem when the first spec is wrong
• Staying hands-on as a senior engineer while coaching a less experienced teammate
• Working directly with non-technical stakeholders: demoing, aligning, and translating between technical and business concerns
• Listening closely to learn a new domain quickly and build what the client actually needs
• Using good judgment on architecture, build-vs-buy, and where to spend effort under time pressure
• Understanding responsible AI practices and sound data handling in client environments
