Siemens is a German technology conglomerate founded in Berlin in 1847 by Werner von Siemens around a telegraph that indicated letters rather than Morse code. After a decade of divestments it now concentrates on industry, infrastructure, transport and healthcare, supplying factory automation and control systems, building and grid technology, trains and signalling, and the Teamcenter and NX design software acquired through a long run of software purchases. The Siemens Xcelerator platform ties hardware to software and digital twins, and the group retains a majority stake in the separately listed medical imaging company Siemens Healthineers.

Here at Siemens, we take pride in enabling sustainable progress through technology. We combine the real and digital worlds to improve how people live, work, and move today and for future generations.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Operator to join our Protection and Automation Panel Assembly Workshop team on first shift in Wendell, North Carolina. In this role, you will operate specialized production equipment used to machine panel components, prepare wires and wire bundles, and create accurate component and wire identification.

You will work across CNC, KOMAX or similar automated wire-processing equipment, laser-marking equipment, and tube-marking equipment. The ideal candidate follows standardized processes, pays close attention to quality, and is willing to learn and rotate among multiple production stations based on business needs.

You will make an impact by:

  • Operating KOMAX or similar automated wire-processing equipment to cut, strip, terminate, and prepare wires and completed wire bundles.
  • Operating laser-marking and tube-marking equipment to produce accurate identification for components, wires, and tubing.
  • Setting up assigned equipment, loading the correct materials, and selecting or verifying the required machine settings before production.
  • Monitoring equipment during production runs and responding to operating conditions that could affect safety, quality, or output.
  • Inspecting machined components, wire terminations, wire bundles, labels, and marked tubing for dimensions, identification, workmanship, and conformance to requirements.
  • Completing routine changeovers, operator-level adjustments, and basic troubleshooting within established procedures.
  • Escalating equipment, tooling, programming, material, or quality issues that cannot be corrected safely at the workstation.
  • Following standardized work instructions, safety requirements, equipment procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintaining an organized workstation and handling materials and completed work in a manner that prevents damage, mix-ups, or identification errors.
  • Participating in cross-training and rotating among CNC, wire-processing, laser-marking, tube-marking, and related production stations based on business needs.
  • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying recurring equipment, material, quality, or workflow problems and communicating them to the appropriate team members.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, assembly, or machine-operating environment. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Ability to follow standardized work instructions, equipment procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to use common hand tools, measuring devices, and production equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to complete cross-training and rotate among multiple production stations based on business needs.
  • Basic English proficiency, including the ability to read work instructions and communicate production or safety concerns.
  • Ability to lift parts or subassemblies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating CNC equipment or other computer-controlled production machinery.
  • Experience operating KOMAX or similar wire cutting, stripping, and termination equipment.
  • Experience operating laser-marking, tube-marking, or similar identification equipment.
  • Experience reading production drawings, work instructions, wire lists, or comparable manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience inspecting manufactured components using measuring devices or documented quality criteria.
  • Experience in electrical-panel manufacturing, wire preparation, electromechanical assembly, or related production environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
