Director of Engineering - Node.js

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring his or her team to achieve their performance metrics. Your role will involve strategizing, project management, and partial staff management. Your collaborative attitude and interpersonal skills will help you thrive as a director.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a small group of highly talented engineers to build platform components to power various microservices.
• Mentor team members and coordinate on a project end-to-end.
• Help architect new features / projects.
• Report directly to the CTO.
• Review the code and approach of fellow team members.
• Project planning.
• Help coordinate projects from design to resource planning.
• Help shepherd them through deployment.
• When the inevitable happens, help the engineers debug and fix the problem as fast as possible.
• Coordinate retrospective meetings to document what happened and how we can prevent this in the future. Aid in product planning.
• Understand the road map and help plan a way to execute it.

Requirements:

• Experience working with stakeholders and understanding the expectations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Skills: Node.js, Express, Angular.js, MongoDB, AWS/EC2/ELB/S3/DynamoDB, Elasticsearch.
• Should have built an end-to-end full-stack product as part of a startup or an organization, but an understanding of the product architecture and its nuances is necessary.
• Experience with building production systems for a startup or an organization.
• Good command over NodeJs and its internals is expected.
• Knowledge about the Ethereum blockchain is desirable.
• Should be comfortable with RESTful web services/APIs using ExpressJS.
• Should be comfortable with server-side technologies as well, such as Node.js, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Should have good command over cloud infrastructure, AWS (preferred), MS Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Should have keen attention to detail and should be obsessed with building a good product.

• Should be willing to work in an agile startup environment and take complete ownership of the assigned responsibility.
