Do you want to build digital products that support cutting-edge industrial technologies? Do you enjoy combining product vision, technical leadership, people management, and hands-on involvement in software development? Would you like to grow a team and contribute to scaling up a business that was created with the spirit of an internal startup?

If so, this opportunity is for you!

As part of the continued growth and structuring of its digital activities, SKF Magnetic Mechatronics is looking for its future:

Digital product Development Group Manager (M/F)

Vernon - France

SKF Magnetic Mechatronics designs, manufactures, and markets active magnetic bearings and high-speed motors for rotating machinery. Its solutions help improve the performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of demanding industrial applications.

Based in Vernon, France, the company operates in an international environment and brings together expertise across power electronics, embedded systems, software engineering, mechanics, materials science, artificial intelligence, control systems, data, and digital infrastructure.

Your Mission

Bring together business and technology expertise to develop digital products deployed both internally and with customers, while leading the software development team.

About the Role

The Digitalization Department's mission is to democratize access to technology through internal and external digital tools and to develop high-value-added services such as predictive maintenance and performance optimization for magnetic bearing machinery.

Its activities include control systems, signal processing, modeling and simulation, software development, infrastructure, mixed reality, and artificial intelligence.

Within this department, you will lead the Digital Product Development Team, a close-knit group primarily responsible for web applications, backend services, and edge software solutions.

Working closely with other departmental teams, technical support, and both internal and external users, you will transform business needs and technological capabilities into coherent, integrated, maintainable digital products that meet industrial requirements.

Beyond leading your team, you will progressively develop a broader understanding of the department’s activities. This may lead to representing the department in selected forums, contributing to cross-functional decision-making, and occasionally acting on behalf of the Head of Digitalization when delegated.

This is a pivotal role combining product ownership, technical leadership, operational management, and people leadership. You will join an organization built with an entrepreneurial mindset and help scale it while preserving agility, close collaboration with end users, and a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Drive Digital Products

  • Gather and consolidate functional requirements from domain experts, technical support teams, project stakeholders, and internal and external users, translating them into user journeys, features, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define and manage product roadmaps and backlogs, establish priorities, and ensure transparency around trade-offs and decision-making.
  • Ensure Architecture Integrity and Delivery Quality.
  • Ensure the consistency of web, backend, and edge software architectures, as well as the interfaces between their components, anticipating needs related to modularity, performance, cybersecurity, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Lead development activities, plan delivery schedules, coordinate with other teams, and ensure high-quality and predictable releases.
  • Manage product deployment and user adoption in collaboration with technical support and relevant stakeholders, while organizing feedback collection and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the Team and Improve Engineering Practices

  • Manage and mentor software developers, support their professional growth, and create the conditions for both individual autonomy and collective success.
  • Drive continuous improvement of software engineering and deployment practices, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, version control, deployment automation, observability, documentation, and technical debt management.
  • Stay Technically Connected and Shape the Future
  • Contribute hands-on when needed through development work, prototyping, technical reviews, or complex investigations, maintaining a close connection to the product and codebase.
  • Participate in strategic decisions regarding build-versus-buy approaches, partnerships, recruitment activities, and, when required, the management of external service providers.

About You

You hold a degree in a scientific or technical field and have significant experience developing software products for industrial applications. You have previously held a technical leadership role, led software product development and delivery, or managed a development team, and are now ready to take ownership of both a team and a portfolio of digital products.

Your Technical Strengths and System Thinking

  • Strong expertise in software architecture and engineering with the ability to make impactful technical decisions.
  • A systems-thinking approach combined with a solid scientific and technical background, enabling effective navigation of multidisciplinary challenges, engagement with diverse stakeholders, and alignment of teams around shared objectives.

  • Ability to translate user and industrial needs into realistic functional and technical solutions.

  • Solid understanding of web and backend technologies. Experience with cloud platforms, edge computing, IoT, data-driven solutions, or industrial systems would be a distinct advantage.

Your Leadership Style and Personal Qualities

  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate, and communicate effectively while balancing strategic objectives with operational execution.
  • A people-oriented leadership style focused on coaching, empowerment, and creating the conditions for collective success.
  • The credibility to challenge architectural choices, engage in technical discussions, and remain sufficiently hands-on to support teams when required.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach, thriving in evolving environments where innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement drive success.
  • Fluency in English & French enabling effective collaboration across international teams and stakeholders.
