We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Specs Operations Team at Snap Inc.!

What you’ll do:

  • Map out manufacturing process flows, identify potential NUDDs (New, Unique, Different, Difficult), and lead or participate in PFMEAs to evaluate and prove out critical assembly processes and technology readiness.
  • Specify and manage production equipment and tool development from concept through to commissioning, working with third party equipment suppliers.
  • Lead equipment qualification, including: setup, calibration, Factory/Site/Production Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT/PAT), and Gage R&R (GR&R) studies across internal fabs and partner facilities.
  • Propose, evaluate, and deploy bespoke equipment, custom tooling, and automated test fixtures to optimize assembly, streamline workflows, and ensure robust production standards.
  • Act as a technical interface for external contract manufacturing partners, driving Design for Manufacture (DFM), yield improvements, line balancing, and hands-on root-cause troubleshooting through NPI into mass production.
  • Solve technical issues directly on the production line, often in real time, within our internal fabs or at our manufacturing partners.
  • Actively embody a "One Team" mindset by partnering seamlessly across multidisciplinary functions (Design, Quality, Optical, Mechanical, and Supply Chain) and support factory floor activities, alongside technicians and operators, to take hardware from concept to volume manufacturing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Practical, hands-on approach to equipment setup, fixture debugging, prototype assembly, reading engineering drawings (GD&T), and solving hardware issues directly on the shop floor.
  • Some working knowledge of measurement system analysis (Gage R&R), PFMEA, and statistical process control (SPC) or DOE.
  • Experience working with suppliers.
  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and deploying custom assembly tooling or automation.
  • Familiarity with bespoke manufacturing equipment, precision tooling design, automation, and test fixture integration.
  • Good attention to detail and data-driven decision-making.
  • Adaptable, team-first mentality with the ability to communicate effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience in high-precision hardware, consumer electronics, optics, or wearables.
  • Ability to travel internationally/domestically up to 15% of the time, TBC based on project phases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (e.g., White Belt / Yellow Belt / Green Belt).
  • Solid understanding of Design for Excellence (DFX/DFM/DFA) principles, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and yield optimization strategies.
  • Experience identifying manufacturing NUDDs (New Unique Difficult Different)
  • CAD experience in NX or Solidworks
