Senior Test Automation Engineer

About the role

In this role, you will strengthen the quality and reliability of software supporting critical electricity grid operations in northern and eastern Germany.

Working within the MCCS Grid Control Foundation team, you will shape test automation and integration testing for solutions operating in a Kafka Streams environment, helping ensure dependable software at the heart of the energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Design test plans, test strategies, and test scenarios for the team’s software solutions
• Execute feature, API, integration, and end-to-end testing to validate functionality and system reliability
• Develop and maintain automated tests using Python or Java
• Build integration and load-testing scenarios for solutions operating with Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams
• Automate UI and end-to-end test scenarios using Playwright
• Configure and maintain automated test pipelines in Azure DevOps
• Collaborate with engineers and other team members throughout Agile/Scrum delivery, contributing to continuous quality improvement

Requirements

• Advanced hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams, including integration and load testing
• Strong experience in test automation, using Python and/or Java and testing Angular-based applications
• Practical expertise in feature, API, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Proven ability to create test plans, test designs, and comprehensive test scenarios
• Hands-on experience with Playwright for UI and end-to-end test automation
• Practical experience with Azure DevOps, particularly automated test pipelines and CI/CD workflows
• Proven experience collaborating within Agile/Scrum engineering teams
• Fluent English for effective collaboration in an international project environment
