Softwire is a software consultancy that designs and builds digital services for clients across the public and private sectors, with offices in London, Cambridge, Manchester and Bucharest.
We're looking for a receptionist to be the first person our visitors meet and the person our London team relies on to keep the office running well. You'll join our small Office Management team, and no two days will look quite the same.
What you’ll do
- Welcome clients, candidates and visitors, and make sure everyone who walks in feels looked after
- Answer the phone and our shared inboxes, and get every enquiry to the right person
- Keep reception, meeting rooms and the kitchen areas tidy, stocked and ready to use
- Set up rooms and arrange catering for client meetings, team days and events
- Order and track office and IT supplies, and handle equipment requests and couriers
- Look after post and deliveries, and host suppliers and contractors on site
- Help new starters settle in on their first day, including office tours and ID checks
- Support socials, awards and gifts: the small touches that make Softwire a good place to work
- Keep on top of light admin such as receipts and budget tracking
- Spot ways to do things better, including trying out new tools to speed up routine tasks
Who we’re looking for
We care more about who you are than your experience in similar roles. If you're warm, organised and curious, we can teach you the rest.
- A people person, you genuinely enjoy company and like making people feel welcome
- You stay calm and organised when lots of small requests arrive at once
- You notice what needs doing and get on with it without being asked
- You have a good eye for detail, whether it’s a lunch order or a delivery address
- You communicate clearly and kindly, in person, on the phone and in writing
- You’re reliable, punctual and dependable. The smooth running of our office depends on it.
- You’re comfortable with everyday software like Microsoft 365 and common AI tooling such as ChatGPT & Claude.
- You are curious and happy to learn new skills and tools.
Nice to have
- An interest in tech. You don’t need any prior knowledge, but we’re a tech company and you’ll fit right in if you’re curious about tech, gadgets and how things work
- Experience in any customer-facing role, such as hospitality, retail or front of house
- First aid or fire warden training, or a willingness to do it
What you’ll get
A friendly, supportive team who will train you up properly, a varied role where you'll get to know everyone in the office, and room to shape how things are done.
A competitive benefits package
A strong community. There are lots of internal groups to join and social events to take part in no matter your hobby.
Exposure to an exciting tech-first industry. You'll work alongside developers, designers and our IT Team every day.
