As a Test Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in SonicWall’s Quality Assurance team, driving product quality through robust test automation and quality engineering practices. Working within an Agile development environment, you will collaborate closely with Development, Product Management, and DevOps teams to ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking and cybersecurity products while leveraging modern automation frameworks, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
• Build and enhance automation frameworks for UI, API, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing to ensure product quality.
• Develop scalable test automation solutions and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate REST APIs and backend services through automated and manual testing.
• Analyze test results, investigate issues, perform root-cause analysis, and work closely with developers to resolve defects.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot test environments across Windows, Linux, virtualized, and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve testing processes, quality standards, and release readiness.
• Leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools to improve automation productivity and test coverage.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer experience.

Required Qualifications

Software Testing Expertise 

• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including test planning, strategy development, test case design, execution, defect management, and regression testing.
• Ability to identify appropriate testing approaches based on business requirements and risk assessment.

Test Automation Expertise 

• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks using Python and technologies such as Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent tools.
• Strong programming and scripting skills with the ability to develop scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation solutions.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

API Testing & Automation

• Experience testing and automating REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, authentication mechanisms, request/response validation, and error handling.
• Experience with tools such as Postman, Python Requests, REST Assured, or similar technologies.

Test Documentation & Defect Management

• Ability to create and maintain test plans, test cases, execution reports, automation reports, and defect documentation.
• Strong understanding of defect lifecycle management and root-cause analysis.

Networking & Network Security 

• Strong understanding of networking and network security fundamentals.
• Experience with technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, Routing, Firewalls, NAT, VPN, and related security concepts.
• Prior experience testing networking or cybersecurity products is highly preferred.

Test Environment Management

• Experience configuring and troubleshooting test environments.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows platforms, virtual machines, networking configurations, and environment management.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve environment-related issues impacting testing activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Cloud & Container Technologies

• Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-based application environments.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Product Management, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Experience driving quality initiatives, process improvements, and engineering best practices.
• Strong focus on continuous improvement and testing efficiency.

Technical Collaboration

• Ability to understand product architecture, technical designs, and implementation details.
• Experience translating technical requirements into effective test coverage and automation strategies.

Communication & Teamwork

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate quality status, risks, defects, and technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration, mentoring, and teamwork skills.

AI-Assisted Software Engineering

• Experience with AI-powered development and testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar solutions.
• Ability to utilize AI tools for test case creation, automation development, debugging, code analysis, and productivity enhancement.
• Understanding of the importance of validating and reviewing AI-generated code and test scenarios before implementation.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Test Automation.
• Experience testing networking, cybersecurity, or enterprise software products is highly desirable.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
