Job Description Network Engineers will be responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the JMNIAN network. The Network Engineer will be required to make architectural revisions as defined by requirements received from the JMNIAN Project Office (JPO), and by identifying opportunities to upgrade the capability of the delivered service. The Network Engineer will maintain a thorough understanding of current networking technologies, including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, network access control and cryptography.
Network Engineers will be required to provide technical consultation to the JMNIAN Delivery Team, as required. The Network Engineer will also liaise with stakeholders from around the defence community and with International partners to design, co-ordinate and run initiatives on the JMNIAN network, working within all policy guidelines and security constraints. The Network Engineer (Deployable Services) will be responsible for the security of the JMNIAN network perimeter, internet facing security policy and engineering/management of deployed network assets.
The Network Engineer (Deployable Services) will also develop software tools to enable other members of the JMNIAN Delivery Team to produce device and crypto configurations. The Network Engineer (Deployable Services) will manage JMNIAN Red software defined networking, and inter-enclave firewalling. They will also be responsible for iterative architectural changes to support JPO requirements, such as the current OTNK project.
The role: Will report to the JMNIAN Service Delivery Manager. Will collaborate with the Security Assurance Co-ordinator (SAC), Crypto Net Controller (CNC) and WAN Manager to deliver maximum JMNIAN network uptime, and initiative networks as defined by the JMNIAN initiative schedule. Responsibilities Maintenance of the JMNIAN network, and gateways / cross-connects to other International networks.
Analysis of network monitoring tools to ensure that SLAs are adhered to and outages are identified proactively. Use information architecture tools such as Atlassian Confluence to create and maintain documentation on a per-initiative basis, and for the underlying JMNIAN network. Maintain relationships with International partners to support recurring International initiatives (WFX / JWA / Formidable Shield).
