The Role: Director, Corporate ACV Reporting

The Team: The Business Unit Corporate Controller’s team is responsible for ACV reporting, revenue accounting, and support across the S&P Global income statement. The team values collaboration and the ability to think critically while problem solving. The role reports to the Senior Director, Revenue and Unstructured Expense Accounting, part of the S&P Global Corporate Controllers organization.

The Impact: You will lead ACV metrics globally for S&P Global and responsibility to communicate and explain the ACV story. You will lead an organization of 3-5 individuals who manage the monthly ACV calculation, reporting, and reconciliation against revenue across the S&P Global organization. The ideal candidate has designed and operated an ACV program and has an understanding of ASC 606 revenue accounting rules. The candidate must be comfortable:

• Telling the divisional and enterprise ACV story using growth rates, renewal rates, new logo, churn, and other ACV walk metrics
• Working with management to what changed in the business, customer environment, product portfolio, or go-to-market approach with unfavorable products level performance
• Analyzing current and historical trends to identify product related issues requiring management attention
• Analyzing revenue quality and durability (retention) through principal drivers of churn, contraction, expansion, and product migration
• Defining product/customer cohorts and analyzing cohort performance to tell the underlying growth story
• Working with management to understand the growth vectors and telling the ACV story to inform on the success or challenges in meeting targets
• Bridging to revenue with complex products such as volume minimums, software licenses, and milestone contracts
• Working with revenue accountants and FP&A teams, liaising with non-finance teams such as sales operations, commercial organization, data analytics on ACV related topics
• Understanding and bridging ACV waterfall metrics that are produced from more than one source system, cadence, or methodology
• This is a hybrid role, requiring 2-3 days attendance in the office.

Responsibilities:

• Own and operate the enterprise ACV program for S&P Global
• Partner with the business teams by understanding various complex products and providing actionable solutions
• Drive agreement on consistent, documented definitions for key ACV components, and monitor for inconsistency as reporting evolves
• Own alignment and reconciliation across different views of ACV, partnering with FP&A, Sales Operations, and Commercial leadership to resolve differences and explain variances to stakeholders
• Conduct research and synthesize large quantities of data into actionable analysis for management
• Lead a team that is a key contributor to the month-end reporting and quarterly business and finance scorecard reporting
• Lead a team that operates complex ACV models and reporting processes
• Identify and strengthen areas of ACV calculation with lower data confidence, establishing improved tracking and controls where needed
• Provide in depth ACV and revenue analysis for various products and their variance impact
• Key point of contact for S&P Global’s ACV reporting and a single source of truth
• Understand and apply best practices related to reporting and strong internal controls

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $126,676 to $221,434. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience related to ACV, revenue, financial planning and analysis, or commercial/sales analysis
• 4+ years of experience related to designing, implementing and leading an ACV program of comparable scale
• Proficiency in SalesForce contract and Oracle revenue analysis
• In-depth experience with Delayed Renewal ACV calculation
• Experienced building/maintaining customer masters to minimize ACV walk/KPI noise
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts (fact tables, dimensional modeling) to partner effectively with data engineering teams
• Strong Excel and data manipulation skillset
• Strong written and oral communication skills, self-motivated, focused, creative, quick learner, ability to work with minimal supervision

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Adaptive to new technologies and platforms, passionate about solving business problems
• Experience analyzing data and creating visualizations to support business decision making though the use of either Tableau / PowerBI
• Experience designing, building, and testing workflows in Alteryx to support analysis of large and complex data sets
• Experienced in dashboard design and focused, thoughtful visual display of quantitative information
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and see projects through to successful completion
• Demonstrated interest in financial markets
• Proficiency/knowledge in PowerPoint, Tableau, Oracle, SAP, or other database tools
• Comfortable operating amid evolving data definitions and cross-team dependencies
• AI tools usage or familiarity (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini)
• Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
