S&P Global is an American financial information company whose oldest predecessor was founded in 1860, and which took its present form through the 2022 merger with IHS Markit. Its most profitable business is the credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings, alongside market data and analytics through Market Intelligence, the index business behind the S&P 500, commodity price assessments through Platts, and Mobility, which owns the Carfax vehicle history service. Headquartered in New York and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it earns most of its revenue from subscriptions and recurring fees rather than transaction-linked ratings work.

  • Lead a small team of researchers working on end-to-end qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research, ensuring rigorous study design, effective fieldwork, clear synthesis and actionable recommendations.
  • Manage, coach and develop a high-performing research team, setting clear priorities and building capability across customer, market and mixed-method research.
  • Continuously evolve research standards, governance and impact measures, improving quality, efficiency and innovation, including the responsible use of AI.
  • Ensure insights reach decision-makers and are converted into product choices, investments, commercial actions and operational improvements, with clear evidence of business impact.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Significant experience leading customer and/or market research portfolios in a complex, global organisation, with a strong understanding of how research informs strategic and commercial decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research, including problem definition, study design, fieldwork, analysis, synthesis and insight activation.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including setting priorities, managing performance, coaching researchers and building capability.
  • Strong business acumen and experience partnering with senior stakeholders across functions such as Product, Technology, Commercial, Customer Experience, Marketing and Strategy.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex evidence into clear recommendations for different audiences.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively and act as a trusted adviser.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise competing needs, allocate resources effectively and maintain focus on the highest-value work.
  • A collaborative, curious and customer-centred leadership style, with a commitment to research quality, team development and measurable impact.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy, commodities, information services, data or technology sectors.
  • Experience establishing research intake, prioritisation, governance, resource-allocation or impact-measurement frameworks.
  • Familiarity with innovative research technologies and the responsible application of AI across research workflows.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in market research, behavioural or social sciences, business, marketing or a related discipline.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to connect divisional priorities and emerging business challenges to a forward-looking research agenda.
