Technical Support Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join a long-term project for a global financial institution.

The role focuses on providing advanced technical support for critical applications and production environments. You will be responsible for monitoring systems, troubleshooting incidents, supporting day-to-day operations and working closely with teams across UNIX, databases, networks and upstream/downstream systems.

This is a hands-on technical support role, combining application support, production troubleshooting, monitoring, IT Service Management and continuous improvement.

Important: Afternoon/Night Shift

This role requires working afternoon/evening hours and is NOT a standard daytime position.

The working hours need to overlap with:

16:00–00:00 CEST during the summer time

15:00–23:00 CET during the winter time

Availability to work these hours is a key requirement for the position.

The role is primarily remote, with the possibility of working from the client's office a few times per month (less than once a week)

• Long-term project – initial Work Order for 12 months, with a possibility of further extension.
• Equipment provided by the client
• Remote work with the possibility of working from an office in central Warsaw a few times per month
• Two-stage recruitment process
• No live coding task – technical knowledge will be assessed through live technical questions during the interviews.

Zakres obowiązków

• Provide advanced technical support for applications and production environments as part of BAU (Business as Usual) operations.
• Monitor systems and processes using tools such as Geneos ITRS, Airflow and BMC Control-M.
• Investigate and resolve incidents and technical issues of varying complexity.
• Work in accordance with Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
• Prioritize tasks to ensure effective and reliable service delivery.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements and support their implementation.
• Work closely with UNIX, Database, Network and upstream/downstream teams to resolve issues and improve service quality.
• Support application improvements aimed at increasing the team's ability to provide effective technical support.
• Follow Change Control and Fault Reporting procedures.
• Participate in organization-wide Disaster Recovery (DR) tests and related remediation activities.
• Manage open risks and audit points through to resolution.
• Perform environment risk reviews and identify and report new risks when required.
• Share technical knowledge and provide cross-training to internal teams.

Wymagania

• 5+ years of experience in Technical Support, Application Support, Production Support or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX / Linux.
• Hands-on experience with Bash / Shell Scripting.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and databases.
• Good knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Practical experience with IT Service Management, including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
• Experience supporting applications and systems in production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Very good English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and operate effectively under time pressure.
• Willingness and availability to work the required afternoon/evening hours: 16:00–00:00 CEST / 15:00–23:00 CET.
