YOUR ROLE
Lab validation and characterization
Attached to the Imaging Validation department, you will join a dynamic and innovative team, an integral part of R&D, working on projects at the state of the art of image sensor technology targeting various markets and applications.
As a Functional Validation Engineer, you will be involved in validating all the division products. This activity will aim to ensure the adequacy of the functionalities and performances of the product with the specifications by relying on FPGA prototyping first, and on circuit silicon in a second time.
The role requires strong expertise in Camera Image Sensors, Imaging Pipelines, Sensor Characterization, High-Speed Interface Validation, Embedded Systems, and Python-based Automation. The candidate will work closely with architecture, design, firmware, and application teams to ensure complete coverage of sensor functionality and system-level performance.
Throughout the validation, you will also oversee the analysis and resolution of technical challenges. Your product expertise may also be called upon to participate in customer support and integration.
To succeed in these missions, you will work in close collaboration with all the different product development teams (Design, Architecture, Firmware and embedded software development), with our application teams in order to provide the best validation solution that will meet our customer's needs.
You will also participate in project meetings, sharing information, actions, and priorities within the team.
Finally, as a member of a validation team, you will reuse existing tools. You will also propose and participate in methods and tools for improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive validation plans based on product specifications and architecture requirements. Verify sensor features including:
- Exposure Control
- Gain Control
- HDR Operation
- Global Shutter and Rolling Shutter Functionality
- Region of Interest (ROI)
- Binning and Sub-Sampling Modes
- Defect Pixel Correction
- Embedded Data Functions
- Synchronization and Trigger Mechanisms
- Multi-Camera Operation
- Cybersecurity
Validate sensor configuration registers and firmware interactions.
Perform feature, integration, system-level, regression, stress, and corner-case testing.
Analyze failures and drive root-cause investigations with design and firmware teams.
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
o Object-oriented programming languages (preferably Python, C)
o Version management tools (git, svn)
o Software, Hardware knowledge and debug capabilities.
- Knowledge:
o Embedded electronics / computing (real time)
o Laboratory tools (oscilloscope, signal generator, etc.)
o Transmission protocols (high and low speed): I2C, I3C, SPI, MIPI, DP, eDP
o Automation and/or continuous integration tools (ex: Jenkins, Gerrit, AI tools)
o Notions in image processing would be an adding competency.
