Encryption & Post-Quantum Architect

Position Summary

The Encryption & Post-Quantum Architect is responsible for Stanley Black & Decker's enterprise cryptographic strategy, cryptographic architecture, and post-quantum readiness program.

This role serves as the organization's subject matter expert for encryption technologies, cryptographic risk management, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate services, key management, and emerging post-quantum cryptography requirements. The position is responsible for identifying cryptographic dependencies across the enterprise, developing remediation and modernization roadmaps, and partnering with technology teams to ensure cryptographic controls continue to meet business, regulatory, and security requirements.

As the organization's post-quantum readiness program matures, this role will lead cryptographic migration planning efforts and coordinate remediation activities with application, infrastructure, cloud, product security, and manufacturing technology teams. This position aligns directly with the Future Readiness workstream, including crypto inventory, vendor readiness assessments, cryptographic modernization, and post-quantum readiness planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise cryptographic architecture standards and technical guidance.

• Maintain visibility into cryptographic assets, certificates, keys, encryption dependencies, and cryptographic trust relationships across the enterprise.

• Lead post-quantum cryptography readiness assessments and cryptographic inventory initiatives.

• Evaluate vendor, supplier, and technology partner readiness for post-quantum cryptography migration.

• Develop cryptographic modernization and remediation roadmaps.

• Identify cryptographic risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities.

• Partner with infrastructure, application, cloud, manufacturing, and product teams to drive remediation activities.

• Provide technical leadership for PKI, certificate lifecycle management, encryption services, cryptographic controls, and digital trust technologies.

• Support security reviews, audits, and regulatory compliance initiatives involving encryption and cryptographic controls.

• Develop metrics and reporting related to cryptographic maturity, readiness, and risk reduction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.

• 7+ years of experience in information security, enterprise architecture, infrastructure engineering, security architecture, or related technical disciplines.

• Experience with PKI, certificate management, key management systems, and cryptographic protocols.

• Experience developing technical standards and enterprise architecture guidance.

• Experience supporting cloud and hybrid enterprise environments.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NIST cryptographic standards and post-quantum cryptography initiatives.

• Experience with certificate lifecycle automation and enterprise PKI programs.

• Experience supporting manufacturing, operational technology, or global enterprise environments.

• CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, TOGAF, or comparable certifications.

• Experience conducting enterprise-wide technology assessments and remediation programs.

• This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
