Job Description
Staple is looking for people to help develop new businesses and contribute to the growth of local communities overseas.
Our ambition goes beyond developing and operating individual properties. We work across the entire process-from planning, development and design to preparations for opening, operations and community building-to grow businesses that take root in the places they serve.
As we prepare to expand internationally, including in New Zealand, we are looking for people who can help turn these ideas into reality.
We welcome both specialists who want to apply their experience in real estate development, construction, hotel and restaurant operations, or business planning to a particular area, and those who want to work across disciplines to build new businesses.
Working closely with local partners and teams within and outside Staple, you will help bring new businesses to life while developing relationships with local communities and the people who live there.
Key Responsibilities
・Plan and advance community development projects and new business initiatives overseas.
・Work on real estate development, construction, design and preparations for opening.
・Launch and operate hotels, restaurants and other food and beverage venues.
・Collaborate with and build relationships with local partners and stakeholders within and outside Staple.
・Develop businesses and build communities in ways that reflect local culture and character.
・Drive projects forward from initial concept through launch and ongoing operations.
Your specific responsibilities and role will be agreed through discussion, taking into account your experience, expertise and interests.
Qualifications
・English proficiency sufficient to participate in meetings and communicate effectively at work.
・An interest in Staple’s overseas business and in creating businesses rooted in local communities.
・The ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others.
・A positive attitude toward change and the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
・Respect for different cultures and values, and a willingness to build relationships with local people.
For specialist roles, we place particular emphasis on practical experience and expertise relevant to the responsibilities involved.
Preferred Qualifications
・Practical experience in real estate development, construction, design or project management.
・Operational experience in hospitality, including hotels, restaurants or other food and beverage businesses.
・Experience launching new ventures or developing new businesses.
・Experience working or studying overseas, and language skills in English or other languages.
・Knowledge of regional development, community planning, tourism or culture.
・Experience bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders to move projects forward.
・An interest in working and living overseas.
Portrait of a person
We want to build businesses that continue to grow long after a property is developed-businesses that take root in a place, develop relationships with local people and endure over time.
This requires the ability to draw on your expertise while thinking and acting beyond the boundaries of your own field. We are looking for people who enjoy encountering different cultures and values, and who want to build relationships with local people while helping us shape businesses from their earliest stages.
We welcome both those who want to use their experience to lead in their area of expertise and those who are ready to take on a new career challenge overseas.
