We are recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager to join our thriving Jewson branch in Bolton, BL3 2PZ. This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:00 16:30, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.
As Assistant Branch Manager, you will support the Branch Manager in leading the team, driving sales and profitability, building strong customer relationships and ensuring the branch operates safely and efficiently. You will help develop new business, maintain high service standards and support the day-to-day running of the branch, stepping in for the Branch Manager when required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Branch Manager to drive sales, profitability and overall branch performance.
- Leading, coaching and developing a team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Building strong relationships with customers and suppliers, winning new business and re-engaging lapsed accounts.
- Monitoring sales, margins, stock levels and branch performance against targets.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, operational compliance and stock management.
- Understanding the local market and identifying opportunities to grow sales and improve performance.
- Deputising for the Branch Manager when required.

- Essential industry and product knowledge within the building materials sector.
- Experience of leading, coaching and developing a team.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to drive sales and profitability.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Good IT skills and the ability to understand financial and performance targets.
- A confident, resilient approach to problem-solving and managing challenging situations.
- A full, valid driving licence.
- GCSEs in Maths and English, previous people management experience and a relevant forklift licence would be advantageous.
