State Street is an American financial institution founded in Boston in 1792 and one of the oldest banks in the United States, though its modern business bears little resemblance to retail banking. It is one of the three dominant global custodians, holding trillions of dollars of assets in safekeeping for institutional investors and providing the fund accounting, administration and settlement infrastructure that asset managers depend on. Its investment arm State Street Global Advisors created the first American exchange traded fund with the SPDR S&P 500 Trust and remains one of the largest index managers in the world.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented professionals to join the Conversion project team, a strategic function supporting client onboarding and platform transformation initiatives within AIS. Team members will have the opportunity to work closely with Fund Accounting, Business Technology, Project Management, and Operations teams, gaining exposure to large-scale conversion projects, process improvement initiatives, and evolving business solutions.

Why is this role important to us:

The team you will be joining is part of Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS), a recognized industry-leading provider of fund accounting, fund administration, and risk services to hedge funds, private equity funds, and other alternative investment vehicles. These services are fully integrated to provide end-to-end solutions that span the front, middle, and back-office needs of institutional investors.

The Conversion project team plays a critical role in supporting AIS growth and transformation by delivering client onboarding and platform conversion initiatives. Through close partnership with business, operations, and technology teams, the group helps drive operational excellence, scalable solutions, and successful client outcomes across the organization.

What you will be responsible for:

As a Senior Associate, you will

  • Lead assigned conversion workstreams from planning through post-conversion support.
  • Coordinate fund accounting, operations, technology, and project stakeholders.
  • Review and approve key conversion deliverables and reconciliations.
  • Drive issue investigation and resolution for complex conversion challenges.
  • Support business testing, parallel operations, and cutover activities.
  • Identify operational risks and ensure adherence to control requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior team members.
  • Contribute to process standardization, automation, and best practice development.
  • Support project status reporting and stakeholder communication.

What we value:

This candidate would require

  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting, accounting controls, and conversion processes.
  • Good understanding of alternative investment structures and related financial products.
  • Ability to analyze accounting impacts and investigate complex reconciliation differences.
  • Ability to lead workstreams and manage competing priorities.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process efficiency and automation.
  • Shows a growth mindset by adopting AI and digital tools to enhance ways of working, improve effectiveness and business outcomes.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in fund accounting, conversion projects, client onboarding, or investment operations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, fund structures, and investment products.
  • Experience leading workstreams or complex operational deliverables preferred.
  • Experience in accounting platforms and knowledge of alternative investment products are preferred.
