State Street is a major American financial services and bank holding company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. As one of the world's largest custodian banks and asset managers, it provides comprehensive asset servicing, fund administration, foreign exchange, and investment management through its State Street Global Advisors division.

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President, Global Crisis Management to join State Street’s Enterprise Resiliency Office Team. The team’s primary mission is to oversee the bank’s global crisis management framework and prepare for and manage crisis events across the organization. In this role, you will support the development and execution of crisis simulation exercises that strengthen operational and technological resilience. You will help ensure effective crisis response and recovery strategies are maintained so the bank can withstand and recover from a range of severe but plausible scenarios within stated impact tolerances.

In this role, you will collaborate with State Street's business, technology, and resiliency teams to identify severe but plausible risks, partner with subject matter experts to develop and execute realistic tabletop exercises, and translate lessons learned into practical, trackable improvements.

Primary Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Lead/Support assigned (particularly for Manilla) crisis resilience exercises through planning, design, execution, and evaluation, with guidance from senior crisis management leaders and in alignment with State Street’s operational resilience standards, impact tolerances, and applicable regulatory frameworks.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the bank (particularly manilla) to develop tailored crisis exercises that address defined objectives for all-hazards incidents and crisis response, including severe but plausible threats affecting business, technology, and cyber resilience.

  • Perform post-exercise analysis, document lessons learned and corrective actions and coordinate the tracking and monitoring of progress. Support follow-up simulations to assess whether improvements are effective.

  • Manage day-to-day project delivery across the crisis exercise lifecycle, including schedules, logistics, stakeholder coordination, materials, action tracking, and progress reporting. Support discussions and readouts with senior and executive leaders.

  • Support crisis management activities when required, including facilitating crisis management calls, preparing situation reports, maintaining action logs, and coordinating after-incident reviews.

  • Support the maintenance and periodic review of departmental policies, standards, procedures, playbooks, and controls.

  • Support incident management and regulatory reporting activities, working with relevant business, technology, risk, legal, and compliance stakeholders.

Key Qualifications:

  • Business continuity or resilience certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, or MBCI are preferred.

  • Strong relevant experience, typically 7+ years, in crisis management, operational resilience, business continuity, technology resilience, or a related discipline within a large corporate or multinational financial institution. Experience planning, designing, and delivering crisis exercises are required, including scenarios such as vendor or counterparty disruption, IT disaster recovery events, cyber incidents, geopolitical events, and pandemics.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence and judgment to interact effectively with senior leaders, executive stakeholders, and regulators, supported by senior management as appropriate.

  • Good understanding of international financial services, the current threat landscape, operational resilience principles, regulatory expectations, and systemic risk scenarios.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in developing clear exercise materials in PowerPoint and concise after-action reports. Experience with metrics, risk analysis, or data visualization is a plus.

  • Practical experience supporting or facilitating crisis response calls, business continuity or disaster recovery activities, and the development of crisis management playbooks and procedures. Experience leading defined workstreams or exercises is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of crisis events, occasional off-hours support may be required, including weekends and holidays, requiring flexibility and readiness to engage beyond standard working hours if required to support real-time crisis management activities.
