Job Description
We are seeking a experienced DevLead and Architect with 20+ years of enterprise IT experience to provide technical leadership across enterprise applications, data platforms, analytics, reporting, and cloud-native solutions.
This role is responsible for end-to-end architecture ownership, guiding solution design from backend services through data engineering, analytics, reporting, and UI integration. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Java and Spring-based enterprise systems, Databricks and Python data platforms, Oracle databases, rule engines, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), and modern UI awareness (React), while leading and mentoring globally distributed development and QA teams.
This position requires a balance of hands-on technical depth, architectural judgment, and leadership, with accountability for platform scalability, performance, governance, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and govern data and analytics architecture using Databricks, Python, Spark, SQL, and Oracle databases, supporting large-scale batch and real-time processing.
- Lead architecture and design of Java/J2EE and Spring-based backend systems (Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot), including APIs, integration services, and complex enterprise workflows.
- Architect and guide implementation of rule engines, business logic frameworks, and data validation/optimization strategies.
- Drive performance tuning, data modeling, and optimization across databases, lakehouse platforms, and analytics workloads.
- Provide architectural oversight for BI and reporting platforms such as Power BI and Tableau, enabling trusted and well-governed datasets for analytics, regulatory, and executive reporting.
- Ensure strong alignment between backend services, data platforms, analytics layers, and reporting tools, delivering consistent and reliable metrics.
- Collaborate with application teams to ensure seamless integration between backend services, data platforms, and React-based front-end applications, including guidance on API and data access patterns.
- Establish and maintain architecture standards, reference designs, and technical blueprints aligned with enterprise security, risk, and governance requirements.
- Lead and mentor globally distributed development and QA teams, bringing Dev and QA together through shared architecture standards, delivery practices, and quality controls.
- Act as a technical authority and mentor, conducting design reviews, providing technical guidance, and raising engineering and architectural maturity.
- Partner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Provide senior technical leadership during production issues, including root-cause analysis, remediation, and preventive improvements.
- Advise senior technology leadership on platform modernization, architecture roadmaps, and strategic technology decisions.
Required Experience & Skills
- 15+ years of overall IT experience, including senior architecture and technical leadership roles.
- Experience in Java, J2EE, Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and enterprise backend systems.
- Proven experience designing and governing data platforms using Databricks, Python, Spark, and SQL.
- Strong background in data optimization, performance tuning, and scalable system design.
- Experience implementing and supporting rule engines and complex business logic frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Power BI and Tableau, modern UI technologies, including React, and integration with backend and data platforms.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services, cloud-native architecture, and hybrid/on-prem to cloud migration.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Agile/Scrum delivery models.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor global, cross-functional teams.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in financial services or regulated enterprise environments preferred.
- Cloud or data platform certifications (Databricks, AWS, etc.) are a plus.
- Ability to work independently with high ownership while collaborating closely with leadership and business teams.
Salary Range:
$120,000 - $217,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
