State Street is an American financial institution founded in Boston in 1792 and one of the oldest banks in the United States, though its modern business bears little resemblance to retail banking. It is one of the three dominant global custodians, holding trillions of dollars of assets in safekeeping for institutional investors and providing the fund accounting, administration and settlement infrastructure that asset managers depend on. Its investment arm State Street Global Advisors created the first American exchange traded fund with the SPDR S&P 500 Trust and remains one of the largest index managers in the world.

About Practice Management

We help wealth management firms solve today’s business challenges so they can grow tomorrow.

Practice Management is State Street Investment Management’s advisory consulting capability for wealth management firms. We partner with advisory firms, platforms, and relationship teams to improve business performance, strengthen client relationships, support strategic initiatives, and create practical solutions that drive growth.

Our work spans practice strategy, leadership, operating models, client experience, succession planning, technology adoption, scalable delivery, and investor engagement - helping clients build stronger businesses while deepening their strategic relationship with State Street Investment Management.

Our work doesn’t end with recommendations: we turn successful engagements into frameworks, tools, educational resources, and scalable programs that extend impact across high-value relationships.

Position Summary

As a Senior Consultant, you’ll support leading wealth management firms, working with senior executives, advisory teams, and State Street relationship managers to address business challenges and support growth. You’ll help clients improve how they grow, lead, operate, and serve investors while developing practical consulting resources that strengthen Practice Management across the firm.

The role requires business strategy, intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment, and strong client engagement skills. Successful candidates help advisory businesses move from insight to action and develop resources that can be applied across client relationships.

Success requires the ability to engage financial advisors and firm leadership, contribute to strategic discussions, create actionable business resources, and manage multiple concurrent client engagements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strengthen relationships across priority advisory firms, platforms, and relationship teams

  • Support adoption of strategic business initiatives through practical guidance and client-ready resources

  • Develop resources that financial advisors can apply to support client action and business improvement

  • Contribute to the scalability and consistency of Practice Management across the organization

  • Help reinforce State Street Investment Management’s reputation as a credible, practical resource for advisory firms and wealth management platforms

  • Provide day-to-day management, coaching, and direction for Practice Management direct reports while strengthening consulting discipline and execution over time.

What We’re Looking For

  • Approximately 6-8 years of experience in wealth management, advisory consulting, practice management, or a related financial services function, with direct exposure to the wealth management or advisory industry.

  • Experience developing client-ready business content, such as presentations, discussion guides, reports, or frameworks, including examples of original work and materials adapted from existing concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or workstreams from planning through delivery, including scoping, timeline management, stakeholder coordination, and execution.

  • Experience facilitating business discussions with financial advisors, advisory teams, or wealth management leadership.

Strong candidates bring capability across five dimensions:

  • Consultant - Able to frame business challenges, facilitate productive conversations, and help clients move toward practical next steps.

  • Business Strategist - Understands how advisory firms grow, operate, lead teams, differentiate, and adapt to changing markets.

  • Communicator - Comfortable presenting to financial advisor, advisory team, and firm leadership audiences and facilitating workshops.

  • Content Creator - Develops presentations, discussion guides, playbooks, and educational resources from idea through delivery, creating original materials and adapting existing resources for client use.

  • Organized Operator - Manages concurrent client engagements and deadlines while communicating priorities, risks, and progress clearly.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong written, verbal, presence, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple business functions

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • CFP®, CFA®, MBA, CIMA®, CEPA®, CPWA®, or similar professional designations valued but not required

  • Ability to travel approximately 25-35%

Salary Range:
