Co-founder and CTO: Search Brief
Full-time. Remote is fine. Confidential search.
The company
A new Saudi company building an AI platform for large enterprises, and the engineering team that puts it to work inside them.
How we work: Our engineers sit inside the client, next to the teams that own a process. On our platform they build AI agents that do real work in the client's own systems: answering customers, handling documents, updating records. Then they hand the agents over for the client's team to run. Every new agent reuses the integrations, knowledge, tests and controls built for the ones before it, so each deployment is faster than the last.
Models: Each enterprise gets the models that fit its needs: open-weight models on private compute inside the Kingdom or on its own premises, or frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI and other providers. Every model call goes through our gateway, which decides which data may reach which model and where it is processed.
Founding team: Me as co-founder and CEO, and a co-founder as COO, both Saudi. We want a third co-founder to take the CTO role.
Stage: The company is being set up now. The platform is not built yet; the CTO builds it from the start. We aim to confirm our CTO and close our seed round by 12 November 2026. The CTO starts full-time when the round closes, and the first phase starts then.
The role
Hands-on co-founder and CTO. Owns the technical plan and the whole stack: the gateway, the agent platform, model hosting and serving, and the way our engineers build inside a client and hand over.
First phase, 2 to 3 months: We start with one of the largest retailers in Saudi Arabia and work with them directly. The phase sets up our founding services: the gateway, the agent platform and its shared foundation, and engineers embedded at the client, led by the CTO. Clients can use private models, public ones or a mix from day one.
After the first phase: We harden and scale what we built, then build out the rest of the stack.
Builds hands-on in the first phase, then hires and leads the engineering team, including the engineers who work inside our clients.
Owns security from day one: threat model, access control, key handling, logging.
Works with me directly at our clients.
Must-haves
Has built an LLM gateway or an agent platform themselves, or shipped enterprise agents with forward-deployed engineers.
Has written production code in the last 12 months.
Proof of their own work that we can check: open-source code, papers, talks, published architecture, or a product people use where their part is clear.
Takes data risk seriously: can look at a workflow and say which data may reach which model, and what must be redacted or blocked.
Professional English.
Strong pluses
Has built and run a platform that other teams or clients depended on: private cloud, on-prem, or multi-tenant at scale.
Has served open-weight models in production and can explain real latency, throughput and cost numbers.
Has worked with frontier model APIs at production scale: routing, cost control, evaluation.
Has hired and grown engineers to a production release.
