About the Role :
We're building CreditEngine, a lending platform on top of Apache Fineract that powers credit assessment, disbursement, repayment and portfolio management for our clients. We're looking for a senior Java backend engineer who can take ownership of core lending systems, drive technical design and build scalable, reliable services for financial workflows.
What You'll Work On :
- Own the design and development of backend services across lending, credit, disbursement, repayment and portfolio management.
- Design scalable APIs and services integrating with internal systems and external banking/financial partners.
- Extend Apache Fineract for custom lending products, workflows and business rules.
- Design and optimize MySQL schemas, queries and transactions for high-volume, audit-heavy financial data.
- Translate complex lending and credit policies into robust, tested and production-ready systems.
- Drive system scalability, performance, reliability and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot critical production issues involving financial transactions and ensure timely root-cause resolution.
- Lead code reviews, technical design discussions and engineering best practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to improving the overall backend engineering capability.
Must-Have Skills :
- 8 - 10 years of hands-on Java backend development; strong command of Java 8+ and object-oriented design.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs.
- Strong MySQL expertise including schema design, indexing, query optimization and transaction management.
- Experience designing scalable, high-availability backend systems.
- Strong understanding of transactional consistency, data integrity, auditability and distributed systems.
- Experience with microservices and asynchronous/event-driven architectures.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with Git and modern engineering practices.
