Stripe is a financial infrastructure company founded in 2010 by the Irish brothers Patrick and John Collison, dual-headquartered in South San Francisco and Dublin. Its APIs let businesses accept payments, run marketplaces, issue cards, manage subscriptions and handle tax and compliance without building banking integrations themselves, and it processes well over a trillion dollars of volume a year for customers ranging from startups to the largest technology companies. Beyond payments the company has expanded into treasury and issuing, revenue and finance automation, stablecoin infrastructure through its Bridge acquisition, and fraud prevention powered by its own machine learning models.

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies, from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups, use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the gross domestic product of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Benefits team is fundamental to the Stripe experience and directly supports our global workforce. The team ensures that our programs are competitive, clearly understood, and compliant with local regulations across 30 countries. We continually update our benefits strategy to meet the diverse needs of Stripe and Stripes.

About the role

The Benefits Program Manager plays a key role in shaping the strategy, execution, and user experience of our benefits programs. This role focuses primarily on benefits strategy and plan design, financial stewardship, vendor management, communications, the Stripe experience, and continuous improvement.

This role is suited to someone who can think strategically while supporting the successful execution of day-to-day operations and our broader benefits strategy.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the full lifecycle of our benefits programs, including market research, benchmarking, plan design, vendor selection and management, annual renewals and negotiations, communications, administration, security reviews, and compliance.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, and recommend new or updated programs that align with Stripe’s business and Total Rewards strategy.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and develop clear communication plans that help Stripes understand our programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors, and manage the request for proposal process in partnership with Procurement.
  • Assess vendor performance and manage contracts in partnership with Legal, ensuring that vendors meet their contractual commitments.
  • Compile, analyze, and report on key benefits metrics.
  • Partner closely with People Partners, People Consultants, Finance, Payroll, Employee Relations, and Legal to support a coordinated approach to our benefits strategy.
  • Partner with Finance to manage the benefits budget, prepare cost projections, and evaluate the return on investment of new and existing programs.
  • Use Workday and our benefits administration platform to improve workflows and reporting.
  • Partner with People Systems to deliver key initiatives and projects.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you’re encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a benefits role with similar responsibilities.
  • Experience managing and improving employee benefits programs using data, Stripe feedback, and financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of government regulations related to employee benefits and time off.
  • Experience managing pension and time-off plans.
  • Experience using benefits administration platforms, such as Workday.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and negotiating contracts with benefits vendors.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growing environment, preferably in a technology company or large-scale organization.
  • The ability to drive projects independently, identify and raise issues, and seek feedback when needed.
  • Strong judgment, with the ability to make decisions that align with Stripe’s culture and benefits strategy.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience managing change initiatives related to benefits programs, including vendor or system implementations and transitions.
  • Advanced data analysis and financial forecasting skills.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and benefits integration.
