StrongPoint is a Norwegian-listed retail technology company with 500+ employees across Europe. We build software and technology that helps retailers run their stores, fulfil online orders and improve day-to-day retail operations.
Our technology is used in real retail environments — from tills and handheld picking devices to shelf labels and click-and-collect. The systems need to work when stores are busy, connectivity is unreliable and there is no room for things to go wrong.
We are now expanding our engineering organisation in Bulgaria and are looking for a Senior .NET Engineer to join the team and take ownership of features end to end.
The Role
- As a Senior .NET Engineer, you will work across a .NET stack, including Blazor on the web side and .NET MAUI for applications running on in-store devices.
- You will own features end to end — from the data model and backend services through to the application used by store staff.
- The environment comes with real-world constraints. Devices may be used in chilled store aisles, connectivity can be intermittent, and applications need to continue working when the network is unavailable and reconcile correctly when it returns.
- Peak trading periods are also real deadlines. The software needs to perform reliably when demand is at its highest.
What you’ll do
- Design and ship features across web (Blazor) and in-store mobile (.NET MAUI), sharing business logic rather than writing it twice.
- Build APIs and data models that can handle intermittent connectivity and reconcile data without losing transactions.
- Work directly with people who use the software in real retail environments and benefit from a short, concrete feedback loop.
- Review code and mentor engineers earlier in their careers.
- Contribute to architecture and technical decisions.
What we’re looking for
Required
- Strong commercial C# and .NET at genuine senior level — you have owned things, not just implemented them.
- ASP.NET Core, and real SQL depth: relational modelling, indexing, and knowing why a query got slow rather than guessing.
- NoSQL — document or key-value stores, and the judgement to recognise when relational is the wrong tool for the job.
- Azure and cloud — you have built and operated services in production, not only deployed into someone else’s pipeline.
- Comfort taking a feature from a rough idea through to production and supporting it afterwards.
- Working English — the wider engineering group is distributed across the Nordics.
Distributed systems
Experience with technologies and patterns such as:
- Messaging — Kafka, Azure Service Bus and Event Hubs.
- CQRS and event sourcing — including handling data reconciliation when systems have been offline.
- Redis and caching — for high-volume and frequently accessed data.
- SignalR — for real-time communication and updates.
Platform
- Kubernetes — where services run, with enough operational understanding to troubleshoot applications there.
- Infrastructure as Code — Terraform, Bicep or ARM. Environments should be reproducible rather than manually configured.
Experience that would be a strong advantage
- Blazor — Server or WebAssembly.
- .NET MAUI. Xamarin counts — if you have shipped Xamarin.Forms applications, we consider that relevant experience.
- Retail, e-commerce, POS, warehouse or logistics systems.
- Offline-first or sync-heavy systems of any kind.
What we offer
- Full-time employment with Encore Ltd., the Bulgarian entity of StrongPoint.
- Competitive salary.
- Private health insurance.
- Food vouchers.
- MultiSport with company contribution.
- 22 days paid annual leave, plus additional leave according to company policy and length of service.
- Hybrid working model with flexibility to work mainly from home.
- A modern Sofia office available whenever you want or need to work from there.
- International working environment with colleagues across Europe.
- Opportunity to join a growing engineering organisation and have a real impact on its development.
- Work on retail technology used in real-world production environments.
- Opportunities for technical growth and career development.
