JOB OVERVIEW

The Solution Architect partners with senior business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, identify technology solutions, and design scalable architectures that support business initiatives. Acting as a key link between customers, business teams, and delivery teams, the Solution Architect leads the solution design process throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of complex and high-impact projects. This role plays a critical part in translating business requirements into effective, sustainable, and innovative solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Perform high level technical impact assessments supporting business cases and project initiation.
  • Assist in detailed analysis, requirements capture and project planning.
  • Work with members of the IT Leadership team to devise, broker and document solutions to business problems.
  • Work with business stakeholders, application architects and development teams to evolve requirements and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Assist project team members to resolve issues with project deliverables.
  • Working with IT Leadership, proactively participate in the build and management of platform and delivery roadmaps.
  • Build a productive working environment through constructive, regular and timely feedback and by ensuring appropriate involvement, delegation and monitoring of staff.
  • Provide regular communication updates to direct reports (if applicable), and other IT team members where appropriate.
  • Encourage a culture of accountability, trust, commitment, professional development, team co-operation and support.
  • Ensure internal relationships and communication are managed effectively.
  • Ensure external relationships and communication are managed effectively.
  • Interface with vendors as required. Deliver or assist in projects as required.
  • Ensure that solution design and project delivery is aligned as closely as possible to core IT principles.
  • Adhere to all IT related policies and procedures. Provide technical leadership to both IT and business stakeholders to ensure that solutions are architecturally simple, fit for purpose and aim to minimise or eliminate technical debt where possible.
  • Compliance to all relevant data protection, financial, taxation and legal requirements.
  • Compliance to all relevant education sector requirements. Compliance to all Study Group policies and procedures.
  • Champion Study Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility and in particular Building Futures.

ABOUT YOU

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise business systems, but particularly CRM, BI, BPM and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one key area of: security, performance, high availability and relational databases.
  • Broad technical awareness covering network infrastructure, information architecture, software languages and frameworks, integration technologies.
  • Previous role as an application architect, lead developer or business analyst, ideally in a medium sized enterprise.
  • Practical experience in programming, although this is not a development role.
  • Understanding of agile, scrum, kanban, scrumban, and related project management frameworks and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of the team.
  • Understanding of design thinking, product management, SDLC, release plan process.
