About the role
The senior accountant is responsible for supporting accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and supports audits and month-end close activities. This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.Key Responsibilities:
- Support with the period end close, including closing the accounts receivable/payable subledger and reconcile with the general ledger
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes; support with the preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
- Assist with coding of non-PO invoices
- Support the Finance Shared Services team with the fixed asset handling activities
- Closely collaborate with the Reporting & Analytics team to analyze financial data and provide insights into financial performance, identify trends and variances to support business decisions
- Coordinate with other departments and the Finance Shared Services teams to ensure all financial transactions are properly accounted for and reflected in the general ledger
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing input on financial considerations and projections; closely collaborate with the Country Finance Head
- Liaise with tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the Accounting processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Finance process, leveraging technology and best practices; maintain policies, procedures and templates
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management and stakeholders
- Ensure all financial reporting and processes comply with International Financial Reporting Standards and the Sulzer regulations
- Liaise with auditors and ensure the completion of audits with minimal adjustments
- Ensure financial internal controls are in place and followed for the processes performed by this role
- Support the Country Finance Head with managing the internal and external auditors requests and ensure that the Accounting team is providing the required information
Skills & Qualifications:
Typically a University degree (or equivalent work experience) and at least 3-4 years of relevant experience (or equivalent skills) are minimally required to carry out the role.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Experience with SAP, ERP system and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
