You can help bring our villages to life!

At Summerset, from the moment we start developing a village, to when our residents call it home, it’s the passion and dedication of our people that brings our villages to life. We are one team united by being part of something bigger - to bring the best of life to our residents.

As an Activities Coordinator at our Dunedin village, you'll play a key role in creating a vibrant and engaging lifestyle for our residents. Bringing energy, creativity, and a genuine passion for people, you'll design and deliver activities that promote wellbeing, connection, and enjoyment. Whether you're organising village celebrations, coordinating outings, or supporting residents to participate in meaningful experiences, you'll help make every day special.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver a diverse range of activities, events, and entertainment for residents.
  • Organise and coordinate special celebrations and themed events, including occasions such as Mid-Winter Christmas and Chinese New Year.
  • Support residents' individual needs while maintaining positive relationships and effective communication with families
  • Create engaging themed environments and decorations that bring village events and celebrations to life.
  • Facilitate exercise programmes, recreational activities, sporting events, and resident outings.

This is a casual role, working on an as-needed basis, with shifts often offered at short notice.

You'll be someone who brings energy, warmth, and creativity to everything you do, with a passion for helping older people stay active, connected, and engaged. Ideally, you'll have experience in events, hospitality, or aged care, but more important to us is your genuine care for people from all walks of life.

You will bring:

  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire enthusiasm and encourage participation.
  • A genuine interest in supporting older people and promoting positive ageing.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease.
  • A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one), an LCQ qualification (or willingness to undertake training), and a full driver's licence.

At Summerset Retirement Villages, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enriches the care we provide. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life.

Summerset's known for its excellent benefits and strong sense of values around care, teamwork and drive for excellence. With some of the best benefits in the sector, some of these include:

  • Discounts from a wide range of suppliers
  • Free access to Telus Health (EAP)
